Even Mender's Row? Yikes.

A bunch of lifeless people squished into one area isn't a good way to sell items. The MW need serious revisions visually. I don't mind having to buy something from the wards, but it's just ugly to look at.

The Solution to this problem would be Linking the market wards of the cites
or
Put XI AH system back its much more better atleast i know that ppl wont undercut me badly make my retainer doesnt show up in the 20 cheapest

Yeah it really is. Like stated by others, SE made the main story line funnel players into uldah. Uldah is also the center city among the three. Did they honestly learn nothing from FFXI? They knew this would happen and still did nothing. Reminds me of their lame excuse of why there wasn't a search feature a long while back on the market wards. They honestly expected everyone to act like professional salesmen and market their retainers.
But back to the main point. They knew these issues would occur and they did nothing to stop them. They are to blame, period. Your argument is just flat out pathetic. Going by your standards I could hand a child a gun and get off free if he harms another individual with it. I mean come on, it's not my fault he wanted to use it. It's not like I, a rational thinker, knew any better.

I think it's a real shame that the player population in each city is so uneven. Limsa and Grid are both fine cities, but you can craft for a week in either one of them without seeing a single shout about anything. At least Grid gets some activity with people running from the crystal to what's-his-name to do their primal quests every few minutes, but Limsa doesn't even have that.
I'd really love to be able to get my crafting mats from the wards in Grid or Limsa while I'm crafting there instead of having to go back to Uldah every time, but it just isn't practical because the wards there simply are not used enough. Uldah is a painful place to be too, far too crowded. If I'm not in a party with my friends, I can't see them standing 10 yalms from where I am anywhere in Uldah.
I strongly support a shared market and global shout system so that people will get the heck out of Uldah and breath some life into the rest of the world again. Too much in one place and nothing everywhere else does not make a balance.
Come join me in Limsa folks! Or go enjoy the beauty of Grid! There's a big wide world out there that's just waiting for you!

Hire a stand.. /end story all stands are always empty because people dont want to pay for them.

Remove the Retainer, Take it back to Auction House. This was a bad idea to begin with, and the original development team should have realized this.
Auction House is supposed to be simple like it has been in EVERY other MMO.
P.S. To Original Poster, I also can't put my retainer up, this sucks but we'll just have to deal until they change the system. The development team is hard at work on my important things. Not saying this isn't a problem, It's just a minor one.

This is something I've been thinking about for a while...what if SE were to make the distance traveled between each city-state the same...this way no one city becomes the hub of all activity...maybe even adjust the leves and quest involved so they all get an equal share of outstanding and not so outstanding rewards
Every single ward in Uldah is full on Masamune too. It sucks because i was out of town for work for 4 days without access to the game, the first of which being when the merge happened. So by the time i logged on Friday evening and tried to set up my retainers, there was nothing available.
It is dumb. Yeah, you can go to LL or Grid and set up shop there (which i did with one retainer), but there are multiple problems with that. Not only do you rarely sell anything but you also lose the ability to search the price histories which makes it even harder to sell anything.
And yes, you can lease a stand if they are not all taken as well. I did this with one retainer in Uldah only to come back the next day to him having disappeared, despite having 200x the amount of gil on him needed to pay the rent. He hadn't sold out of items, either. Someone else in my LS had the same problem. So yeah, the stands apparently have some kind of issue with them as well.
I like the retainer system but i don't think it's utilized as well as it could be. Just merge the wards from the 3 cities in terms of price histories and ability to buy/sell. Then you could set up shop in whatever city you wanted. Retainers are living beings, it's not unreasonable to think that they could deliver an item to a city that someone bought from them in another city. It's not like retainers couldn't theoretically have linkshells that enable them access to the information they would need to accomplish this (i tend to notice SE is particular on having reasons for how things are possible, etc). However, i guess this system would require an actual delivery system as well which, i know what you're going to say, is "coming in 2.0". I guess i'll just not make any money for the next year or whatever it is.
On a conspiracy theory note, i think the Inns being "closed" in Uldah is SE's secret plan to get ppl out of Uldah![]()
