    Quality of Life Thoughts

    This kind of thread pops up from time to time, and I'm always curious what people think would improve the overall game. Especially with the 2.0 streamlining coming up, I'm interested in what other changes will come.

    For me:

    1) Trust for 1-70

    I like the direction they went with the Trust system. I would really like to utilize something similar for 1-70, using NPCs we have met. As in, it would have been nice to have more interaction with Edda's party for example (perhaps you go in after they fail?). I had no idea who she even was until Tam-Tara Hard mode. And didn't really realize there was a story there until Deep Dungeon- they were just NPCs standing around the dungeon exit.

    After joining the Walking Sands, there are a bunch of NPC regulars that come and go (the 2 Roe bro's come to mind). I would have liked to know them better.

    I guess it just feels odd to me how friendly, personal or loyal various NPCs are when we never do anything together.

    2) "Sell all Junk" and "Stack all"
    (from Guildwars 2 in my brain, but I'm sure it's EVERYWHERE in games)

    1 click on merchant menu, all items that aren't used for anything or just generic items are insta-sold.

    1 other click to auto-stack same items and auto stash into retainer. (Stash all -> Equipment/Crafting Ingredients/etc)

    3) Overall improvement to the UI
    I know it's because of spaghetti code... It takes a million clicks to get anywhere.

    eg. Shouldn't need a separate click for each option on retainers. It should just be Retainer -> Open inventory. From there sell/marketboard/see equipment all at once.

    For the love of ALL that is holy can ppl stop using the absurd reference to SPAGHETTI CODE! Its enough already. It has nothing to do with the coding. This is in design.

    Sorry, I'm don't follow with the problem in calling a duck, a duck; It's just using shorthand.

    We all know the game is poorly optimized from a hodgepodge of 1.0 and PS3 era code/limitations/decisions, which effects performance on the engine today, right? If not spaghetti code, what would you prefer to call it?
    Whether it is physical code or some "design decision", it's poorly done.

    There is no reason the game should have as many clicks as it does on the retainers or, say, Tomestone vendors; thus QoL improvement.

    Clicking the 'this item is unique and untradable, you sure you wanna sell it?' pop up when selling gear over and over and over and over... *lays down in fetal position*

    I mean, it at least has a little bit to do with the coding. They have said more than once that messing with the coding can cause issues so they tend to proceed with certain features cautiously.

    Yup.

    (Game developer here)

    Nine times out of ten, spaghetti code is the result of either massive amounts of code being recycled from one project to another OR when a massive change in planned design occurs mid-development.

    Given that some systems (like materia) were pretty much copied over from 1.0 (which used an entirely different game engine)....

    ...yeah.

    4) Fix Sightseeing in ARR
    After basically finishing the ARR Sight seeing log.. it's terrible. The one I can't clear is because it's bugged (#31, can't /lookout and jump at the same time!)
    That said, there is some realllly ridiculous jumping puzzle shenanigans going on. I'm fine with some careful jumps (like the gate in North Thanalan) but there were a few with wonky hit boxes that were just...stupid. (I'm looking at YOU, weird canopy-tree thing in Bentbranch and that stupid stupid tent in La Noscea, near the Sahaguin base.)

    Also, add the visible "balls" to denote location. New players will have no clue wtf is going on here since everything 3.0 on is marked clearly.

    ...let's not get started on the Kugane tower... If it's not a "jumping game" with fairly accurate jumping, it shouldn't have jumping puzzles.. or at the very least it shouldn't have the crazy invisible platforms and walls.

    I have been advocating for a long time now and hate repeating myself but wth are maps still not stackable? We have other items that are and while doing map night as a group it is rather annoying.
