FFXIV doesn't launch from Steam anymore

I've been playing the game for about 800 hours, always on Steam. I haven't played for about 2 days during this weekend and now, trying to get back in, it doesn't work. I click play on steam, it starts, but then the launcher doesn't work, it just crashes and returns to steam.

If I try to go into the files, I can make it work, then I put my password in and click login, but it says that I don't have a subscription, even if I renewed it only 2 weeks ago. I don't understand what's happening. I've tried reinstalling the game and after installing it, I can get straight into the game. But once I log out, this problem comes back

With some digging around, I found out I needed to make a shortcut of the "ffxivboot.exe", add "-issteam" to it and now it works. Only downside, which isn't that bad, I lost the steam overlay. Still not really sure why all this happened, since I made no change to my pc or steam or game. I've only been gone for one day.

Due to changes made to the changes made to the game launcher, only the Steam version of Final Fantasy XIV can be launched from the Steam application. If you are experiencing the " no valid service account" error, please launch Final Fantasy XIV from the Window's launcher. To do so, please uninstall the Steam version and download the the game from the following link:

With all due respect, I've always had the steam version, always. Every single dlc was bought from steam. And even the mog station says that my account is STANDARD(STEAM). I don't know why all of this suddenly changed, but as I said, I managed to circumvent the problem by adding a shortcut to the boot executable and adding "-issteam" to it

Did your windows update overnight? Sometimes (translation: often) windows will reset some of your settings to default making stuff like this happen. A couple updates ago, windows set all my graphics and sound settings back to default without asking me and it took me a few days to get some of my games, FFXiV included, working again.

I wanted to ask something else. Since I'm not really sure this problem is connected to what you said, meaning the changes to the launcher, what will happen in the future if I wanna purchase a new expansion?

I honestly can't remember if I had windows updates... I'm pretty sure it didn't update in the last 2 or 3 days. I just came back from a trip out of town and then found the game like this
