I'm not responding about frame rate, even when you get in that's a whole another story.
Dude, I'm on Balmung which is one of the most if not most active servers. If I get a queue it is only during prime and is always less than 100 people and takes about 30 seconds at most to complete. This is on par with the entirety of 5.0 when SE implemented a mandatory log-in queue to eliminate the truly long queues. We haven't needed that mechanic since 5.1 started and in a week or two it will be back to the status quo where there will hardly be any queues if at all even during prime and Limsa still being packed with AFK people. AFK people are not causing your log-in queue. The large number of people that show up for a patch and then leave after a week or two are causing it.

AKA people playing the game are causing the login queue, people parking themselves AFK in Limsa consistently, daily, all the time, are not contributing to it. Yeah okay. You are trying so hard to not be wrong. I'm done with you.

how do you know they aren't doing anything? They might be playing the market get up and take a shower or go out to eat.. I Rarely afk because the power cost But I''ve had moments where I was In limsa and something came up and I needed to go out of town but I wanted to remain on to get messages from my fc as I don't really like discord its main thing so I know rather something got cancled or what not that they wanted to do ... Which did happen to me last week I got rushed out by my husband because we needed to get a few things and he surprised me with a nice meal so I was gone about 4 hours as one thing led to another....

Do note just because you don't see anything going on or you see the chair by their name doesn't mean they aren't doing anything.

I like Limsa best out of any other area because I love pirates and the ocean and this place has it all for me. I really hate the desert area's and the forest areas online ffxi's windburst are so booring they put you to sleep.

since the thing about new players came up when I join a game and see alot of people in a starter zone it makes me want to play it more because that makes me think places are really being used with no dead zones.

However this game is dead zone centrel in the open world.

My dude. That's irrelevant. The point I am making is that you're scapegoating the wrong people and suggesting an unnecessary fix as a result. (Well that and the fact that this thread is about the complaint about lag and FPS drops in Limsa which the AFK people do have an actual impact on, not log-in queues. I believe the solution to this is making the other city states as enticing to hangout in as Limsa, not implementing an AFK timer.) The weeks before the patch there were no login queues on Balmung which is one of the busiest servers with (gasp) AFK people in Limsa. A few days before the patch dropped, queues started to happen during peak as people started showing up in anticipation of the new content and the peak-time queues have continued since then as a result. These queues are small (less than 100 people) and do not last long, so I'm not sympathetic to whining about log-in queues to be quite frank. Talk to me where there are queues in the 1000's like we had with the initial 5.0 drop (and most of 4.x patches) and I'll be happy to support you with afk time-outs to help with shortening log-in queues. We're beyond the need for it now, and waiting a week or two for the patch returners to get bored with the new content and attrition off will fix this "problem" on its own as we go back to the status quo of between patch times.
