Hey, don't bring my server into this. What'd we ever do to you?
More seriously, the Firmament timer is—as I understand it—one that kicks you out of the Firmament, bumping you back out to the Ishgard aetheryte; the Firmament is, so far as I know, a special instance case—i.e., a zone handled differently than other areas of the game—not technically the open world, so it's more the equivalent of being bumped from a duty for being idle. Given the usual spaghetti code claims, they might not be able to add a logout timer to a specific zone in the main world versus the whole open world.
I aim to make my posts engaging and entertaining, even when you might not agree with me. And failing that, I'll just be very, VERY wordy.Originally Posted by Packetdancer

Maybe just use a different city. Most if not all of them have an aetherite shard and retainer bell literally right on top of them and I really don't see what the big deal is.
They should add World Transfer to the expac cities as well, a lot of people use Limsa as it's the most convenient place to go world hopping shopping.

Appreciate all the support for adding Limsa AFK timer and the thumbs-ups. Just for the record every evening since 5.2, there has been a login queue. Not to mention the Tuesday 'lag' city, people needing to use VPNs more, plus on-top of the frame rates getting shot for PS4 players.
People have tried to come up with fictional things "oh it's just a new patch it'll go away". We've been through a full a cycle, than a sweeping virus came around keeping people AFKing more in the game. At this point they could support re-adding a game-wide AFK timer to free up more network resources that already are getting strained.
I had a log-in queue yesterday of 20 people. That's sure some strained resources right there.Appreciate all the support for adding Limsa AFK timer and the thumbs-ups. ...and if players who were AFK for a lengthy period were kicked automatically from the server then there's a good chance that there wouldn't be a log-in queue in the first place, saving you precious seconds that would very much add up over time.
I'm going to take this as sarcasm because calling 30 seconds spent in a queue precious time lost is just plain hyperbole.

It's not sarcasm. The time spent in a queue may be typically brief most days but it still adds up over time to a decent amount. Forcibly logging people out who aren't actually playing the game for hours at a time would be beneficial in many ways. Not only in eliminating queues but also by making it easier for players to create characters on active servers in order to play with their friends.

Heresy!!!
Many reasons:
1. Admiral Merlwyb Bloefhiswyn
2. It's the greatest city in the game.
3.
