I kind of disagree with that. The game itself doesn't make you start off with your characters limit set to unlimited, so the excessive amount of people isn't realy a trouble. Not only that but I think most if not all new players would rather have a first impression of a game as something packed and popular rather than seeing your starting city empty.

If anything the struggle is more a reflection of your computer settings and how you might be overestimating your machine's capabilities than an actual overcrowd issue. Reducing the amount of visible players and draw distance is all you need if your performance is getting impacted by too much information in said area.

While obviously I can't speak for every single new player, the ones I know love Limsa and Eulmore because it's so busy there.

Not gonna lie, I personally avoid Limsa because any time I do, there's atleast 4 people playing 4 different songs on their Bard and it ends up being an ear piercing nightmare when they all mix together,

It's because the draw distance (and the amount of PC character displayed) on PS4 version is severely reduced. On PC, you're free to change those settings and that person probably set it all the way to unlimited...
I have an RTX 2080Ti, I9 9900K & 16Gb ram and on my system it will also framedrop to 40-30FPS, that's why I changed that setting to normal (whatever the default setting was) and that way it stays locked at 75FPS (which is my refresh rate).

You can turn off perform music in the audio settings.

Not really an issue for me since I'm never in Limsa (one of the reasons was because it's always crowded in there), but I also like to be in the expac cities during their time. During SB I was usually in Kugane / Rhalgr's Reach.
Now during ShB I'm usually in The Crystarium / Eulmore.
I often go to my house as well which has retrainer bell and mendor & junk vendor, there's also a market board nearby my house.
And when I go to bed, I turn off my PC. My system easily pulls over 600watt, that would just be a waste of money in electricity bills if I let it on while I'm not using it for several hours. Not sure why so many people leave their systems running at night.

Anyway I see no harm in this being done, I sometimes get a login queue again (and I'm not talking about the 'fake' on SE made to reduce the login stress thing).

Either your Limsa is much busier than mine or this is exaggerated. I have a gtx 1080, I7 and 16g ram and I run at 80 fps with the highest settings that game has and I only loose about 10 fps in Limsa at peak times...

But I do miss going to Limsa. It was my home and favorite city in v1 and originally in ARR, but I have since moved to Ul'dah because I just can't stand the amount of open world conversations in /s, the rmt, the emote spamming and the lala noises, not to mention the general cringe factor that Limsa consists of these days.

Then its a good thing that you can change the volume and/or mute performance sounds entirely. I did that a long time ago, especially with people using scripts etc to play the songs for them instead of doing it themselves without being able to tell the difference between someone who's put in the practice or someone who is running that, its a waste of time having it unmuted.

Eulmore is by far my most favorite location. Minus the lack of marketboard, the retainer bell is RIGHT NEXT TO THE POST MOOGLE (seriously, wtaf is up with the post moogle being in bfe in EVERY major city?) That and the turn ins for scrips and all else. And now that I can take the airship to the Crystarium, it just made it all the more better for me. But by far, the location of the post moogle in Eulmore is GODLY for me.

Eulmore could do with one too. I have worse loading times for Eulmore than Limsa.

    See I don't get this.

I have a player in my static too who has long loading times when we go out of the raid and he standed in Eulmore.
I have normal loading times in Eulmore, like near instant, I usually have to wait around half a minute before they appear.

I'm on an SSD and have gigabit connection but if it's server side then that shouldn't cause me to have instant loading times?

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

Usually high loading times in MMOs is a local hardware issue more than a bandwidth issue (with bandwidth needs being fairly light). Rendering out a ton of players all wearing different things with different stats and meta data is very taxing, and is specifically where hardware differences matters most. Engine limitations or constraints can exacerbate the issue with code-specific loading bottlenecks.

Older console multiplayer games circumvented this by loading a single dummy model and backfilling it when it was ready (one of the pso games did this iirc), which leads to crowded areas filled with lifeless dolls for awhile but faster load times.
