In the end, being mechanically sound/functional or accessible doesn't mean sweet FA if its about as fun as watching paint dry on an ugly wall.

Sure people have their various visions for what something should be; but I simply don't entertain that the current vision can possibly be that for anyone. In most cases I think people who are happy with the so called 'accessibility' now are mixing up the satisfaction of it being 'shallow and easy' with it being distinct and thematic. If something is so stripped down that if you dropped the scholar title and dressed it differently; it could practically be anything at all, you've gone and goofed to an epic level. Why even call it scholar, or assign any real notion of it being the tactical thinking persons job? There's more thinking to be done, in going to the bathroom at this point for goodness sakes.

For someone like me (who plays various titles rather than complain too much 'most' of the time); I think current scholar will be my example for a long time, of dumbing down gone way too far. You can't toss out a playstyle that was ingrained into a community both practically and with lore support - and then say 'hey enjoy your brainless 1 button festival hurr durr'. Fortunately the pain on the Japanese forums is real, so if anyone gets a bone from all this it should be you. Assuming SE have the fortitude to eat humble pie before the healer demographic becomes a ghost town ofcourse.

Never underestimate those who like a challenge or to push a class. Because its actually those who give beginners something to aspire to be. Something all too readily overlooked in the genre - and with Yoshi P saying he wants new players to see vets 'flying around' in rebuilt ARR as inspiration; something he should bare in mind. For it is the healer mindset (persona), that best lends to the types of people he would want flying around in the first place.
