So I know the rules clearly mention that you need to go to your private estate within 45 days and I know that FFXIV sends an email reminder about that. Even if the email is not received by the player for any reason, rules are rules.

I lost my house yesterday, a special spot next to my fc with 6 months of work and fun on putting furniture together. I had an emergency leave and was not able to log to the game. I kinda forgot that I should check my estate within that period before it’s demolished and for some reason I did not revive an email reminder, or it could be accidentally sent to junk - tbh I haven’t checked yet. Either ways it’s too late now.

I’m wondering why would you put such a rule if I’m paying for my subscription? I paid upfront and an active subscriber, whether I log or not, why would you demolish people’s houses?

So... what's the question? You've already answered yourself the ones that you posted. Why post about this in the first place if you "know the rules"? You lost your house for reasons known - you couldn't log in. I don't understand why you are posting about it. Adding fuel to a fire that is already burning?

The housing system sucks. What i think is, the current system should just be for FC houses and make the private houses instanced , so everyone gets to access that part of the content , because we all payed equally for the game and monthly paying to play it as well. It is very unfair that others gets restricted out of that content.

You can doubt as much as you want, I did it with my first two mansions. And they were still too little (I want a castle or Haukke Manor or maybe share the castel with Feo :3). And now what bother me is both that apartements are so tiny and we can't even have a proper use of the mezzanine since we need to use glitchs to put something on.

Again, My cynicism and skepticism is derived from what I see people do currently - Argue for a house. Fight for one, then dont do anything with it other than hold it.

We should also all get the same mounts, titles, glamours, etc as anyone else, regardless of effort or time put into the game. You didnt do Tea, well heres the weapons for it anyways. Also the title. You after all pay the same sub as everyone else, so you should have access to those things, yes? What about PvP awards. Etc etc.

Paying your sub doesnt entitle you to the benefits of content that exists. The devs have provided us with our own personal housing spaces (either in FC room or Apartment). That is the bare minimum. Anything more than that is a competition with other players for a resource. Again, why is the go to response to housing "Gut the system, give everyone an isntanced house, wards be damned" instead of suggesting improvements to the apartments which already are instanced.

Well the "extra rooms" I mentioned would function just like FC houses do with having that door that lets you select where to go. They would serve the purpose of an "outdoor" area for gardening and a "workshop" like FC houses have access to. But as I said if that's too much of an ask, SE could simply make new interior housing objects that allow access to those features (crossbreeding and airships/sub missions).

The primary issue I think many people have with apartments aside from size/item count, is that they are still locked out of certain features which are only available if you have an actual house. Simply addressing that, and perhaps offering larger apartment sizes and a higher furnishing count would probably stem much of the calls for more housing I think.

And that might be the more feasible option. Keep the current system in place, and improve the APT system to have tiers size wise. Housing would still be better by virtue of pricepoint and location, but APTs will give you a reasonable option. For example, what if you could have essentially a cottage sized apt: 200 Item space, up and down stairs, same size as a cottage, and a small outside area where you can place 10 outdoor items (like a balcony kind of deal) and it costs you 2 Mil in Gil. You get almost all the perks of a small house, and its cheaper. It's instanced so anyone can get one so long as they got the cash, there isnt competition for location cause thats a non issue, and it leaves the wards and neighborhood intact and wouldnt require restructuring the servers as housing interiors are already instanced so its just a matter of swapping out the location. This would be, in my estimate atleast, a good compromise and solve a ton of the issues presented.

That really sucks, sorry to hear you lost your prized house.
The rules basically boil down to an arbitrary decision on the dev's part. They picked that because it made the most sense at the time to help others get access to the system. It isn't unfair by any account, nor is the availability system flawed like many people like to complain about. It's actually working exactly as intended. But it is true that the 45 day limit is short enough that real life can dictate whether or not you get to keep your house. Especially in these covid-19 days where people can get stuck abroad with no access to the game. SE generally do a good job of turning timers off for global/local crisis' though.

This is just going to be one of those hardsh "live and learn" experiences. Better luck next time.

I've said this elsewhere but, I think apartments would satisfy most people's desire for a house if:

a) they had an additional room (like the free company workshop) that looks like a small outdoor terrace and allows for the placement of one gardening plot so apartment owners can engage in crossbreeding. Such a terrace would also allow for the placement of a few outdoor housing decorations like the kiddie pool.

b) they had the same interior item limit as a small house (which is double what apartments allow right now). The current limit on apartment placeables is far too restrictive.

c) a free company that does not currently own a house can purchase a free company apartment instead, which while being the same size as a personal apartment, also has a workshop room as well as an outdoor terrace room, allowing free companies who can't get a non-instanced house to still have access to all the amenities that come with free company housing.

Non-instanced housing would still hold prestige, but it would no longer lock players out of certain features like crossbreeding and airship/sub missions. If the only difference between a standard small house and an apartment (as far as features go) is that one is out in the neighborhood and the other is instanced, I believe that most people would be satisfied with an apartment. Even moreso would likely be satisfied if apartments came in multiple sizes for a greater cost (with the expected increase in furnishings allowed).

If the additional rooms suggested in A) and C) aren't doable, then at the very least create placeable items that can be used inside a standard apartment that allow access to the features those rooms provide. An "indoor hydroponics planter" that allows crossbreeding and an "airship/sub remote access panel" could serve well enough in a pinch.

If you lose your house because you don't even play once a month, it's your fault.
It's easy to put that on the fact that you haven't seen the alert email.

In game, it is displayed as soon as a certain time has passed in the Calendar: housing interface.
It is better to leave your house to the 80% of player don't have a house.

Just to clarify something, housing is not related to sub but to connection and entering in the house (not the garden, the house). If, for any reason, you cannot connect, even if you are running a six month sub, you can lose your house.
