My hubby lost our 1st house when I broke both my legs. I was in the hospital for 7 months.
    We now both have houses.

Sadly it's a game and life is more important than the game.

Just know that more housing is likely coming at the end of the restoration.

    Commendations.
If I play dps I only give it out to other dps.
If I play tank I only give it out to healers.
If I play healer I only give it out to tank.

Only if they should be getting a commendation.
There are always exceptions to the rules!

I like threads like these, they remind me to walk into my personal house once every month to not lose it. FC house is so much more useful. While I despise the system, I do feel it's needed though. But I do think SE is pushing a lot of the blame on the playerbase due to their awful implementation. I'm sure it sounded wonderful on paper, but look where we are now, and look how dead the neighborhoods are. On Crystal you practically have to schedule events to even see one other soul now. I've lost 2 other houses to it (got another 2 now, FC and Personal), and while I kick myself for losing it, I'm fully against deleting your items flat out after 30 days though. Data storage is dirt cheap, so yes, they should hold onto the items for a player when and if they return. The cost is so stupidly low. I'd still like to see them eventually introduce instanced housing, something that would be a tiny little zone just for you. Imagine being able to change the zone you're in, say, having a floating house in the Sea of Clouds like the Sky Pirates? Just wish personal housing wasn't so useless unlike FC housing. Mine rots now.

I think it's more of a problem of your items being stored on that specific lot, so storing your items indefinitely would only work if you got that exact plot back.

For these reasons, wards are probably some kind of persistent instance when instancied housing is active only when a player is in (and it needs pretty less dynamic memory since it is only one house).

Wards are some kind of Eureka were is need to load several indivdual gardens datas additionaly. It is pretty heavy for dynamic memory.

We can all agree and disagree but the housing system is one of the worst things they've implemented if not the worst. They advertise before you even sub that you can have an house and showcase some of the things you could do with them yet it is insane that you have to fight a damn placard to try and get one. Also why is it that FCs can own a whole damn wards and more? And players even sell their FC houses for insane prices on Reddit yet they bloody do nothing about it.

To OP, I have lost my house too without having received any email even though I was subbed thinking it would have been enough. I feel your pain.

OP, you say you understand the rules, but then proceed to whine about how unfair it was that you lost your house.

You clearly did not understand the rules.

Why is it that every single time someone loses a house in this game he absolutely has to open a whiny thread about why "the system is bad and you should feel bad"?

There is one upside to owning an apartment at the very least, and it's that your sub isn't held hostage.

I lost my house yesterday, a special spot next to my fc with 6 months of work and fun on putting furniture together. I had an emergency leave and was not able to log to the game. I kinda forgot that I should check my estate within that period before it’s demolished and for some reason I did not revive an email reminder, or it could be accidentally sent to junk - tbh I haven’t checked yet. Either ways it’s too late now.

I’m wondering why would you put such a rule if I’m paying for my subscription? I paid upfront and an active subscriber, whether I log or not, why would you demolish people’s houses?
Tell them to provide houses for everybody. Not everybody has the luxury to be awake and playing all dawn until moe ing or a lot of gil to spend thousand millions to buy one. We provide subscription as much you. Tough words but gotta put yourself on other's shoes as well.
