I've lost houses twice, the first time I didnt know about the demolish policy and had a forced break due to circumstances. By the time I could come back not only did I lose the house I lost everything inside it. The second time it was another one of those oh crap life moments and couldn't play for 6 or so months. Lost everything again. At least with the apartment they dont take it away.

I understand the timer is needed while I also wish they would give us an option once a year or so do stop the timer for like 4 weeks in total. Im constantly subbed in the game for my house, I have my house for 4 years now and I use it a lot, but I rly would like to unsub once and take a break for a while. I cant tough cause to get my house was A LOT of work and I did put a lot of work in my house. I dont wanna lose it, and Iam sure they make a lot of money by forcing people to stay subbed so they dont lose the house.

I feel you-- my BF bought a house that we had for months- I decorated it, put my time into making is snazzy, it was even featured in FF-HGXIV which is a twitter housing sharing of amazing builds- BF went off to do other things, never touched the plot near the end, suddenly ingame I get a message saying it's been demolished etc. BF had logged in 7 days prior but never actually touched the plot.
I was pretty blue- I constantly took care of the house/ was always in it/ had my FC members in it yet I was punished since I was only a "tenant" of the house & the deed didn't fall to me. An FC member offered to give me the gil to re-buy the plot because he said there was a huge crowd around the plot & knew how frustrated I was but I declined, it wasn't the FC members problem, it was mine- The plot was beachfront right by a market board too. It took maybe an hour for the plot to be won to someone else.

LUCKILY, a plot opened up in the Lavender Beds later that night, I checked on the plot the following morning to see it still vacant- I stayed up to try to buy it but I ended up taking a nap, not knowing how long it'd be- I woke up literally an hour later, noone was at the plot- it was 10 a.m. est- I clicked "purchase" and suddenly, I had a house!

Atleast, you didn't lose to a bot using a 3rd party program to buy a house. A plot near my house went vacant, 2 people were at it- 1 was a bot, bot won the house. I took dozens of screens to show proof- reported them twice, but I doubt SE would do anything about it. They've all but left the housing community to fend for themselves since it's optional content.

I’m wondering why would you put such a rule if I’m paying for my subscription? I paid upfront and an active subscriber, whether I log or not, why would you demolish people’s houses?

The people without houses are paying a subscription too. The measures taken greatly alleviate the housing shortage and discourage greedy behavior like buying houses just to make a profit.

I'm sorry you lost your house. It's not the end though because it seems like there are plenty of houses available when the game gets quiet between patches. My server had 20+ houses in the Goblet around December and January, just sitting there unused, unwatched and devaluing. 20+ without even counting the newest wards. I'm now a house owner for the third time because of it. Be patient and you'll find another one.

You can take a break if you want. The timer is 45 days but 4 weeks is only 28 days. Just go to your house near the end of your sub and again as soon as you resub.

I would like to take a break more then 45 days, also maybe without the need to sub again. Thats why an option to maybe once a year or so to stop the timer would be nice. I know we wont get it, but luckily for me, I have enough money, other on the other hand are not that lucky.

I lost my house too and just like you I didn’t get a warning email. But at the end of the day I knew the rule when I bought it, as did you, so it’s no ones fault but our own. 45 days is a pretty fair time.

I've lost 2 houses. And one of them was a large plot. I think it really sucks. Losing the house sucks, but losing all the items inside is worse. I mean, at least hold the items that were in the house indefinitely. Some items which you can't get again unless I pay for it on the Mogstation, which is all kinds of whack. I participated in all those past events.

Cherry trees... I've experienced that. I thought event items would come back the next event but no, items that can be lost or stolen are in mogstation. I can understand for glamour but event items we can lose, really? Hell no. It is not a money matters, it is the principle I can't accept.

The messed up part is that SE encourages people to take breaks. Unsub and play something else until something of your liking comes around that entices you to come back. I got extremely bored around the beginning of 5.1, unsubbed and lost my house (and EVERYTHING inside) because I hadn't logged in in about 3-4 months.

And That was on me...I could have logged in every time before my sub ended but It really comes down to what's important to you in the game and I wasn't about to resub just to keep my house and not have anything to do of interest so I just called it a loss and kept it moving.

But yeah it does suck for the people that really can't log in due to "life stuff" especially after getting a house is so difficult. I get why SE has the system in place (due to the shortage) but ALL of this could be avoided if they just made instanced housing or more wards. Or just implement restrictions so one person can't go in and purchase entire wards. 1 FC home and 1 personal home that are tied to the account itself so people can't just make an alt and buy more.

I’m very sorry for your loss, OP. It really sucks that had to happen because of how SE’s housing system works and honestly it’s high time we at least get an instanced housing option. I hope you eventually manage to nab a good replacement regardless!
