I wish they didn't remove housing after 45 days. Only reason I stay subbed even though I don't really play much between updates is since I have 2 larges in the same ward. Don't want to lose that! Why? Because for an unknown reason, they think it is better to have limited wards rather than instancied housing, that is kinda weird since they added some instancied housing as Inn, FC room or apartment. And housing, except garden is instancied as soon as you enter. So...
Considering what Wildstar or BDO are able to do with housing, SE choice is bad. But it's not as if it was a new. Many people say the housing is broken since they open to individual.![]()
The irony of disagreeing with a system meant to mitigate a limited resource while also being a core cause of the need for said system but hoarding said resource.
Why is it so important to you to be owning houses you don't use in a game you don't want to be playing most of the time?
If you didn't cling to those houses that you aren't using, you wouldn't need to maintain your subscription solely so you could enter them once every 45 days.
Your choice, of course, but seems like a bad one if it's making you unhappy.

That's exactly what I mean about tieing 1 house to an account along with 1 FC house. There was a post some years back with someone posting that they had 2 mansions, 3 houese, 8 cottages and 3 FCs. Or the one time two people on Mataeus purchased like 28 houses or something like that.

45 days is a LONG time not to log in. If you can't find time to do it, well, then it obvious it is not THAT important to you.
Seriously, with the advent of laptops and easy internet access around most places in the world, surely one can make the time to logon and update their house if they really care about it. And if you play on ps4, well, I guess one would have to 'double dip' to be able to play the game on their laptop (if they have one) to keep the house. After all, it's ONLY money, it's your HOUSE that you put soooo much time in!
I honestly wonder what people are doing to keep them from total game access though for such a long time. Like I said, if one is willing to spend the money, one can keep their house. How much it is TRULY worth to you?

Apartments are instanced yes, but they have a limit of 400 rooms I think, so it's still limited and 400 is not enough still. A compromise had to be made somewhere. No one cares about apartments(they are dead on Spriggan), people want their own house. Why? Of course. No gardening, useless mezzanine since you need to use glitchs...
I use it mainly for the cheap tp it provides. Of course all people want a house, but not necessary in a ward. I would prefer the instancied system from Wildstar. The current system is a fail for show off since nobody goes in a ghost town and it is a fail again for creativity since apartments are far too limited...

Having a sub does not mean participating in content. Housing is content. Having your sub does not entitle you to hold something that is limited even if you dont log in.You can disagree all you like but I won't change my opinion of a system that is in need of fixing. If they are paying a sub then they are active. How and when i use my house is my business. If I choose to go on a 2 month vacation I should be able to without losing my house as long as I maintain my sub.
Youre identifying a shortcoming with apartments, and suggesting the solution is to create more housing by restructuring how the servers themselves work so every house is a single instance and everything is separated and isolated. If this is an issue people have, it might actually be better to advocate for a much more advanced Apartment system. For example, you could have small/medium/large size apartments that all cost different things. Small apts are what we got now, medium have a up and downstairs similar in size to a cottage, a large apartment would have up and down stairs with an outdoor balcony section that holds 10 yard items (with some limitations, such as large outdoor items might have to be restricted for obvious reasons.) Theyll have different price tiers, and item limits of course. So on so forth. Point is, We could do instanced housing in a sense by reworking how apartments work while leaving the current housing system in place.
I liked a great many things about WildStars housing system, however I will not deny that it also felt isolated and lonely. Yes, I could visit any house I watned to see something, but it doesnt have the same feel FFXIV does in terms of wards feeling more alive overall. It's definitely not perfect on FFXIV and theres a lot of room to debate how things should proceed, but I do like how it works currently from a look and feel standpoint.
Sure you sacrifice having a 'neightborhood' but I'd 100% take instanced housing over the wards, so that housing will be open to the playerbase at large rather than being in limited supply. If they let you upgrade apartments to match the interior of houses over time, like upgrading your house in animal crossing, then that might be one thing. But I dont' think the positives of wards outweigh the negatives without adding several more wards at least.Having a sub does not mean participating in content. Housing is content.
