Endgame Broken Glamour System Nightmare

My Thoughts on the Glamour system.

Hi Everyone,
for most of people this topic can not be that important or worth your time, As i don't see it discussed more often, But i will talk about it anyway.
At the first when they introduce Glamour dresser and plate i thought it was cool and easy to use, planty plates to save your glamour, But i was wrong (What happen is ...) i level up all Jobs to lv 80, then here my nightmare of the glamour begins, when you gear up all your jobs with the Endgame Gear it started to notice what is wrong with this current Glamour system, i will put into these points:

1-I can't get enough slots with glamour plates and there is like 18 slots.
-As you know there is 18 DoW/DoM + 11 DoL/DoH total are 29.

2-Avoiding using Job specific gear because it will not enough glam. plate For(Classes, Gathering and Crafters).
-People are avoiding Specific jobs glam the optimal piece of Armor is the one has all classes on it. ( these is for ppl have reached all classes to level 80).
getting jobs gears will take a lot of dresser space and Armoire is useless.

3-You can only change glam. from plate in the cities.
-this happen when have one set of endgame gear and you were doing (Maps,Fates,Hunts) and wanted to change classes like From (PLD to DRK) but ur glam are not fit for DRK... you have to back to the city this applied to if glam your PLD with his job gear and when change to DRK the gear has no glam.
But the best ppl have problem with this are physical ranged players.

4-Only Glam dresser are found in the inn and squadron room.
-yeah if i want change anything i need to get through a lot of loadscreens and teleportation. (Why i can't craft my own Glamour dresser )

5-The Endgame gear it is share betweens the jobs except, Ninja and Bluemage as max level now is 60.
-Yeah sadly if glamour your raid gear as themed planned for PLD. DRK,WAR and GNB they will take same glam except the weapon.
(why i can't apply PLD, DRK,WAR,GNB at the same Endgame gears without canceling each other?)

This my Thought about the Glamour system in FFXIV, I know some or all other people will disagree with but i wanted to post it, and get it out of my head.

Agreed. WE NEED MORE GLAMOUR PLATES! I have to delete a plate's glam, constantly losing a dye or two, when I decide I want to make a new glam. It sucks! Also, we need more storage too!

1) Sadly, yes... They have recently increased both the number of Glamour Plates available, as well as the storage space in the glamour dresser itself (Believe it or not, it used to only hold 200 items instead of 400). Hopefully this is only the beginning of the expansion of glamour.

2) I still have no idea why AF1 gear is the only AF gear that can be placed inside the Armoire (Even then, only the non-dyable versions of the AF1 can be put into the Armoire... *Sigh*)

3) Yeah, this is annoying. Though, I believe it's something to do with how they've coded it (However, it still confuses me that you can't do it in towns that are Sanctuaries)

4) They mentioned they can't let people craft Glamour Dressers because of the coding involved in them. I believe it was something about how much data the Glamour Dresser uses being too much when moving it around your house.

5) Unfortunately yes. Most end-game gear is used between multiple jobs (With DRG and NIN being the only 2 with unique gear). Thus, with Glamour being applied to the item, it will be shared between all jobs that use the same item...

I actually recently made a post in another thread about a potential solution to this problem, though, it would depend on what their code will allow them to do:

For example, if they add in a tab on your equipment screen (Possibly by simply using the Glamour Plate button, with it having the option to load a saved plate as an extra button at the bottom of your character image with the other options) which opens up a "Dummy Equipment" screen, like the one you see when making a Glamour Plate which you can then save Glamours to, where slots you add Glamours to will override equipped items while slots left blank will use your equipped item appearance instead (Just like applying a Glamour Plate currently does)

That would allow for saving of Glamours to an equipment set, [meaning] that you can use multiple different Glams between Equipment Sets that use shared Equipment (I.e. If all my Tanks are using the same "Generic Tomestone Armour of Fending" I'd be able to use a different Glam on all 4 of them))

It's not about being in a sanctuary, it's about being in a town zone (no monsters anywhere on the map) rather than a field zone or instance.


And I suspect that your other idea about "masking" appearances can't work within the game - it's what everyone wanted out of the glamour plate system, but instead they've coded something that integrates with the old prism system. I suspect that there's no other way they can actually apply temporary appearances in real time like that.

(Yes, they've done it in solo instances, but they could be doing tricky things behind the scenes to achieve that for the instance.)

I don't know if the current system is the only possible way the spaghetti code will allow them, or if it was just more convenient for them to simply utilize the existing prism system to do it.

Nor do I know how they do it for those solo duties that utilize temporary glamour (I haven't actually checked if it simply applies a glamour plate onto your gear as you enter and exit the duty...)

I just know that my above noted system would allow the functionality of saving glamour to an equipment set as opposed to items themselves (Especially given that it can still function based on the prism system, only instead of prisming the glamour onto your actual gear items, you glamour onto the dummy items)

There's also the system in place for when you Try On an item, there's a button for "Show Gear" that will apply your currently equipped gear to the doll with the item you're trying on. Which may or may not be applicable to the glamour system (Again, it's hard to know both how this functions and what their spaghetti code will allow)

But i didn't buy their Angelic and Demonic outfit glamour because of their glam system doesn't work , My plan was make the Angelic for my PLD and Demonic for My DRK but if i'm gonna suffer from this, then hell no SE fix it 1st . and i'm already with Max retainers numbers and i'm Suffering from their glam system get retainers is not the solution to this.

Glamour is just really convoluted. It is kind of annoying to make a glam styled specifically for like a single class, then use that same gear on another class. It will take up at least 2 glamour plates to switch back and forth. For sure kind of annoying. Like my red mage glams would never work on black mage (if I ever got around to leveling it) or summoner. Just like my tanks glam is specifically styled for a gunbreaker, but would look odd, in my opinion, on yeah a dark knight or something. You need a whole other melded set for warrior, so that's less of an issue.

Speaking of having multiple sets, there is no room in our armoury chests for them in the first place, I can barely fit my weapons! Actually, I would need another melded set for black mage too, I'd think, separate from my red mage, so more armoury space is what is needed for that conundrum.
