SE Y U MAKE ME DO MACROS AGAIN...

Okay, so I just DCed out of the game while trying to enter the elevator to the airship in Uldah (surprise huh?)

Now what happens is...after I log back in I notice all my macros I already got back through file copying were set back to that state again...and now guess what...some random player who wasn't been able to do that on his own might be happy his macros are back on their own again!

BUT I MODIFIED MY MACROS FOR OVER AN HOUR FOR EACH SINGLE CLASS/JOB AFTER I COPIED THEM BACK IN AFTER THE MERGE AND NOW ALL OF THAT IS GONE!

Thanks SE for fixing something 3 days too late and then causing even MORE fucked up BS through that fix!

Reminds me of the good ole' XI days, when you made sure to /logout as soon as you were done with macros to save them. :P

They could always... allow us to store our macros/settings on the server.

Found the reason why the macros were set back again to "pre Merger" state.

If you don't want this happening to you (if you changed your macros since the server merge)

Go into your My Documents/My Games/Final Fantasy XIV/user/"PROFILE NUMBER HERE"(its different for each person)
Open the folder with your current profile that's saved on the merged server.

There you will notice a new file that wasn't there before. It's right above the "mcr0" File for your macros called "copied".
It has 1KB and it prolly is nothing more then a file that just "copies" your pre merge settings back into your post merge settings...

Get rid of this file, or I can't promise this will happen after each and every DC.

PS: I deleted it and it didn't cause any problems In-Game in case someone might be concerned!

I did this and they still keep disappearing and the "copied" file keeps coming back :/ I repeated the steps like 5 times last night because they wouldn't stick and dang before merge macs came back ><

Hmm strange, just logged out and came back and the "copied" file is still gone for me. Does it only come back after you DC, or everytime you log out and back in?

If it comes back everytime, just "copy" your 3 Profile Files after you have done all the Macros and stuff, save them in a different folder and if you're macros are reset, just copy them back in everytime...might be annoying if it happens too often, but rather that, than rewriting the macros over and over <.<

This is not a minor issue, and something SE should have either accounted for pre-merger, or if not, have made the players aware of, and how to fix. An after-the-thought fix on the miss is worse than the miss, in this case, as a constant reset of macros to pre-merger is both painful and wrong ><

OK, I'd be very careful with this. I removed the 'copied' file, as Tirion suggested. Then I logged out both directly from the game (in which case SE is saying your macros will remain as post merger), and then again from the character selection screen (when I did this, it created a new 'copied' file in my folder and my macros were once again reset to pre-merger).

Fortunately, I had copied the post-merge macro files into a new folder, so I copied the macros from there back into the character folder. Then I logged in and out using both methods, from game directly, and from character selection screen, and the system did not overwrite my updated macros. In other words, if you remove the 'copied' file from your character file, I bellieve everytime you log out from the character selection screen, it will create a new one, overwriting your post-merger macros.

once you copied you old macro files to the new location, when you log back in do a proper logout and they will be saved if you d/c or forcefully close ffxiv their gone and you have to redo it
