I was playing just fine for about an hour but this popped up and closed the game after I tried to teleport to The Sea of Clouds. haven't been able to get past the first load in screen since. It keeps giving me the same message: An unexpected error has occurred. Exiting Final Fantasy 14(17).

How long have you been experiencing this crash? Additionally, what have you tried so far to alleviate the issue? Could you also provide a system report? Simply go to the 'Config' option on the Final Fantasy XIV launcher and to the right of 'System Information' click on 'Display.'

It first happened this morning about 2 or 3 hours ago. I've restored my game's system settings to default, and I restarted my PC. I haven't experienced this issue before so after the first few attempts I copied my debuglog and came here. xD

My graphics drivers are currently up to date (just double checked), and I also just tried windowed and borderless full screen. No dice.

Could you try doing a cleanboot? : Open the task manager (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC) and select the 'Start up' Tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC.

Just tried the cleanboot, still gives me the same error message. This hadn't happened before I entered the Sea of Clouds (NOT my first time there either). Not sure if that has anything to do with it or not.

Do you crash anywhere else in game or only at the Sea of Clouds? Is anything over heating when the game crashes? Do you have a way of monitoring these temperatures?

I cannot log into the game because it's crashing during the login. I just know that it happened while I was teleporting to the Sea of Clouds and I havent been able to actually get on since. You may want to try reinstalling the game. When you do this, make sure to delete the locally saved data as well (My Documents > My Games > Final Fantasy XIV). Make sure to create a backup of this so you can replace it if it doesn't solve the issue.
