Ice Crystals -- How do you get them?

Hello,

I am looking into how one gets Ice Crystals.

I look at the recipe for how you can get them 16+ at a time, but those recipes appear to be marked 'dated.


The best recipe I can find (to mass produce them) is to do them 6 at a time:
1x Saber Sardine
2x Lightning Crystals

But if I need a stack (999) of them, that is 166 synths.

That's a lot to ask of an alchemist ^^;


Is there any other way to get a large quantity of Ice Crystals in a fast/decent amount of time?

Synthing faster than killing ice elementals.
With hasty-hand, that would be about a bit under 2 hours I think.

You could find a mob that drops them and do some farming, it'd be slow. I'd skip hasty hand and do normal synths, i'm hoping you can still HQ those for a larger amount as there is no +1, so you might make 8-10-12 per synth. I haven't tried making crystals since they revamped the crafting, but I'd like to know if anyone does~!

OP is lvl 0 ALC.

I'd just make gil doing something you're good at, then buying ice crystals in the wards.

why do you need a tenth of a stack of ice crystals?

The problem with buying it from the wards is:
The wards are empty o.o. There was a 12 hour period where there were no sales, and less than 20 crystals available (2 were at max price!)

I got lucky and just kept checking the wards and finally found someone who put some up, and right away bought them.

(This is what prompted this question. When the wards are empty again, I have no realistic course of action but to enlist the aid of a friendly alchemist... then lock them up in a room for several hours and make them make me stacks of crystals).

Just wanted to make sure I did not miss an obvious/easy alternative that I never realized ^.^;
