The fundamental problem with lag in Ul'dah, like it was in Jeuno, Whitegate, etc. is the bazaar system. GET RID OF IT, it causes most of your lag problems and is entirely unrequired with an AH in place.

As if having an AH got rid of lag for FFXI.

people can miss the old dead servers as much as they want. i am celebrating having people to party up with and the great people i have already met on excalibur in this short amount of time.

i do not miss sitting for hours because nobody is online.
i do not miss not even having enough english speaking players to even attempt content online.
i do not miss items sitting on my retainers for weeks because it doesn't sell.
i do not miss the servers being completely quiet.

the only thing i miss about the old dead servers is if you went farming you could stay in one place for weeks and never see another person. that's one miss i can get over really quickly.

not normally no, but when something happens that increases my outlook i will support it. previous to the merge i was very close to quitting the game for the first time since launch. this merge has done wonders for keeping me here so i support it alot.
