    Discussion about recast timers

So, the Armoury system encourages you to change up your classes as you play so you can have more fun. Are recast timers are there to prevent "abuse" of the Armoury system?

Do you feel like you're abusing yourself when you change classes?

Do you feel like you're abusing yourself if you're a White Mage and you change classes to repair your teammate before a primal fight, but invoke your Benediction recast timer so you can't heal your very same teammate in the fight?

Do you feel like you're abusing yourself if you see a dead person on the side of the road and decide to change jobs so you can raise them and then have to wait.. 5 minutes? I have a feeling if the Good Samaritan had to wait 5 minutes to raise someone he might have been remembered as the Cursing Samaritan.

Did you know no other online game has a 5 minute recast time on raise, except maybe DURING a fight?

Do you feel like you abuse yourself by changing your class, or do you feel like timers abuse you?

I'd like to feel like I'm pleasuring myself or others by changing my job.

Use Benediction. Change to weaver. Change back to WHM.

So the simple solution here would be to remember the recast timers even when you aren't on that job. That would stop people from changing jobs to refresh recast timers but still allow us to use abilities that we haven't used recently just after changing job.

I assume this mechanic is there to discourage people from changing jobs a bunch to fit every new dungeon encounter perfectly. I approve of it.

The abuse that there could be is, WHM has to spam heals, switches to DRG elusive jump, back to WHM, spam heals, switch to BLM freeze, back to WHM etc etc.

Or have DDs change to WHM for a benediction rotation and swap back to DD after its done.

With the system the way it is now you can't change jobs while engaged in battle so this scenario couldn't happen and I think it should stay that way but I would like to see a system in place where if you are running out of battle that the timers are @ 0 when you switch back.

If SE thinks that abuse could still happen maybe setting it up to where switching to DoL or DoH wouldn't reset, that would allow you to at least allow you to repair an item or a friends item and not reset your timers. There's nothing worse than having to switch to Weaver to repair gear then have to wait 15 min for your timer to reset.

I agree with the OP for the most part. If you change a class, there is no reason that recast timers on the same spell need to reset. If I am a CNJ and I raise someone, and it has 2:30 left on it, when I change to bard, there is no reason for raise to reset to 5 min again. It should simply stay at the current rate of 2:30.

It does, if your ARC and BRD both have Raise equipped.

Exactly. Battle encounters have nothing to do with this recast timer discussion since currently you can't change jobs in combat. We are just talking about the other 90% of game time where recast timers, in my opinion, really get in the way. I'd like to see recast timers of 0. Do you think Eorzea would explode?

Thats great. If it was actually related to what I said. I said CNJ to BRD not ARC to BRD
