Would anyone be interested in a smoking emote or am I in the minority when it comes wanting a smoking emote.

Personally, I am not a fan.... others might disagree, but it is a very unhealthy habit that I consider disgusting.... and while this is not a real world, I do think that it could be "glamorizing" it for younger players. I'm not trying to judge, I was a smoker for many years.
That would be cool.
I can see that, not a huge smoker fan IRL, but for some reason in terms of art I do tend to depict a few of my characters as smokers guess on some sub consensus level I did buy into the whole smoking is cool thing, even if I personally would never smoke.Personally, I am not a fan.... others might disagree, but it is a very unhealthy habit that I consider disgusting.... and while this is not a real world, I do think that it could be "glamorizing" it for younger players. Despite the fact we kill hundreds if not thousands of people, dance in a strip club and there's a drinking emote so eh a smoking emote would not bother me especially as Yotsuyu is seen smoking a pipe and one of the housing items you can get is an ornamental smoking pipePersonally, I am not a fan.... others might disagree, but it is a very unhealthy habit that I consider disgusting.... and while this is not a real world, I do think that it could be "glamorizing" it for younger players. I guess were also glamourizing the idea of going on quests and murdering gods too. Or I guess if were gonna get more down to things, there is the toast emote, along with the concept the game encourages you to take performance enhancing drugs for boss fights.Personally, I am not a fan.... others might disagree, but it is a very unhealthy habit that I consider disgusting.... and while this is not a real world, I do think that it could be "glamorizing" it for younger players. My flippant comment aside, games are not here to rear children. Thats for parents to do. And it's not glamourizing to kids. That was a bs concept from the 90s. More kids ended up getting on drugs because PSA programs like DARE and SANE than they did cause they saw a movie character once in a great while light up. The simple fact is some people smoke. In a game that does seem to on some basic level encourage our characters to be, you know, characters, allowing them to smoke would make sense since it is an in world thing IF that is in character for your character. I would be for it. More emotes for more people, even if you dont like it personally. Hell, I dont smoke personally, but I could see my character smoking socially as part of her thing.
Chances of them adding it though? Slim to none unfortunately.
Perhaps, but i think if such a thing were made, this would be one of the few things that would actually be acceptable to put on the mogstation and charge extra for, so that only the most hardcore RPers would buy it. NPC's already have smoking emotes - I dont think excluding it from player control would really do much. SE gets away with it on NPCs because they never explicitly state what is being smoked.Personally, I am not a fan.... others might disagree, but it is a very unhealthy habit that I consider disgusting.... and while this is not a real world, I do think that it could be "glamorizing" it for younger players. 2.0 Veteran from 2013. Just looking to be helpful. DRK is Love, DRK is life.
(Ignore the levels on my character card, the tool i used to make it hasn't been updated for 4.0)
Yet no one sees the issue with the mention of drug using, alcohol drinking, talk of r--e in some quests, the "dancing girls" in Ul'dah, and many more things .... it's smoking people find disgusting ... /mindbogglePersonally, I am not a fan.... others might disagree, but it is a very unhealthy habit that I consider disgusting.... and while this is not a real world, I do think that it could be "glamorizing" it for younger players. Do those themes being in the game mean we need a r--e emote? An NPC doing something one time is different from all players freely doing it in every city and dungeon.

No we don't need an emote for that.
What I was touching on in my meaning, is some posters say "Oh we can't have an emote for smoking because it's bad, and we shouldn't see it" yet there are NPCs drinking ... and isn't drinking bad? Sure can be. I don't get it why it's okay to see NPCs do it, but good lord in heaven, if my pixelated character does it, the world is going to Zodiark and THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!!
Just seems silly and double standard-y to me. This is a Teen rated game, and by ESRB standards in games, by this article from 2007:
So that's interesting.Inspired by the Motion Picture Association of America's decision that tobacco use will have a much greater effect on a film's rating, Curmudgeon Gamer has done its own mini-investigation into how tobacco references have affected a game's rating.
According to statistics culled from the ESRB's website, only 3 out of 141 games with a tobacco descriptor ultimately earned an M rating, with the rest earning E (29 games), E10+ (18 games) or T (91) ratings. No Early Childhood-rated games have any substance references. The ESRB process uses "specially trained game raters" to decide the rating.
Though many can argue that these statistics do not count for the extent or realism of tobacco usage (e.g. Calling All Cars received an E but still has an "Alcohol and Tobacco Reference" descriptor), it should be noted that according to MPAA CEO Dan Glickman, 75% of films with "even a fleeting glimpse of smoking" received an R rating. Should games, the beacon of controversy they can be, hold themselves to similar standards?
