We’ll probably end up defeating them, absorbing that piece of our soul, and becoming closer to being an unsundered ancient?
Even if its our soul shard, they're still definitely possessing Asahi's body. I'd recognize that lunatic smile he gives at the end anywhere. Its the same smile he gave when he gave up the pretenses and revealed himself as the Zenos-fanboy that he is.
