Problem with Win10 and XIV (not steam version)

I will sign in and boot up the game, but there will just be a black screen with my mouse wheel load spinning. Then the game will crash to the desktop, or if I don't want to wait for it to do that just click on the screen for the same crash to happen quicker. Any idea what is causing that?

Were any updates or changes made to the PC? What have you tried to alleviate the issue? Additionally could you provide a system report? Simply go to the 'Config' option on the Final Fantasy XIV launcher and to the right of 'System Information' click on 'Display.'

No changes were made to the computer. This only started to be an issue when I got Windows 10 about two months ago. It doesn't always happen, but when it does I have to restart the computer. Sometimes that doesn't even prevent the problem from happening right away. I know nothing that is installed conflicts, due to the fact I have only programs installed that I previously did with Windows 7, and even less than before.

My issue isn't from 5.1, because it was an issue beforehand. It is not a constant problem, but it does happen occasionally.

I'm not going to paste everything in system information, cause it lists absolutely every program, etc.

Same thing since the patch.

Since this started, I have updated my nvidia drivers, and performed Windows Update, but no fix. Also tried to downgrade DX in the FFXIV launcher, but that didn't help either.

Ironically, when I click 'Display' in the config menu nothing happens (but the button greys).

I have non-steam, and even deleted the entire game and re-installed from scratch (even to another hard drive). It worked once, and then not since then. I'm not willing to re-install the game every time I want to play it.

Not sure what info is in the 'System Information' but here is some info about my system:
Not OEM (custom built)
AMD Ryzen 7 1800X 3.6GHz
32gb DDR4 RAM
Win 10 Pro 1909
Gigabyte NVidia GeForce RTX 2080 442.50

Is Final Fantasy XIV installed on a secondary drive? If so, could you reinstall the game on the C drive? Additionally, please update your drives as they appear out of date. If you have not done so already can you do a cleanboot?

If left to it's own, Windows Update will not always grab the real latest nVidia video drivers.
Visit:
https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx
and select your card and OS to get the latest drivers.

Thanks. Yeah, this is a clean install of 10 (was manually updating with Win7 before) cause my motherboard decided to brick. Didn't notice the gpu was out of date.

Since updating the GPU, does the crash still occur? Additionally, could you try doing a cleanboot? Open the task manager (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC) and select the 'Start up' Tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC.
