Join a hunt discord. Hunts are a very popular thing at the moment. 16/16 A rank trains not counting S rank spawns and boss fates yield 160 allegory, 320 phata, 480 Poetics and 640 nuts with the 3 Greatwood instances. In prime time the hunt bosses may have trouble rendering there are so many people. That's not counting the materia drop clusters.

Want to make money at the moment sell the new tome crafting mats and grade VIII and VII materia before the community has had it's fill of crafting and melding the new gear everyone is working at getting/buying atm. I've made millions in the last couple weeks doing nothing but that.

To say that mounts are not worth having/collecting is simply a bait title to talk about the fact they're not happy with open world content. That's not even to mention that many people like to collect mounts just like some like to collect minions and orchestration rolls. Personally I have lots to do in open world with hunts, beast tribes and other things but that's me. When i was gathering/selling i spent hours a day gathering mats and is why I guess i don't need gill anymore I have way more than I'll ever need to spend in this game on my main and numerous alts.

I also for what it's worth like to use my mounts in housing districts where I spend most of my non duty time these days. Rhalger's was cool as was Idyllshire given that people could display the mounts they got from Savage, extreme primals, pvp and more. Shame Eulmore doesn't allow that atm. Another thing I like about hunt trains is that you get to see all the wonderful hard to get mounts that personally I'll never own but can certainly appreciate.
