If the character creator was updated, what would you want in it?

Just being able to mix/match features from any of the faces available to a given race/gender combo would add a good bit of variety without necessarily having to drastically overhaul things.

TL;DR if it means the devs can actually make a better character creator to the point were people don't need mods for them to get fully immersed into the game, I'm all in support for it... but I don't see that happening anytime soon... because FF7 Remake and all...

I really loved the character creator from Code Vein. I’d love for FFXIV to have a character creator that’s similar. Like for example, just being able to precisely adjust the size of your character’s pupils to however big or small you want them.

Well, since it's just an "if", then for most part I wish there was wider height slider.

Also, possibilty to make more flexible adjustments to face features, using those that exist right now as presets (for those who are fine with their appearances as it is and for those who don't really care about all the sliders). Uhm...a bit of manual adjusting for haircuts, too? Sometimes you just wish you could see the bang on another side or make this part a liiiitle bit longer, you know.

Not to mention spreading sliders like the one for muscles to every existing race, if it will ever be possible on technical level (I remember yoshida saying that there is a limit to amount if options they can implement in creator). A bit of flexibility in adjusting body parameters would be cool, too.

The ability to hear the voice clip of your character's battle cry (for lack of a better term), aka the sound that they'll often make when initiating most forms of non-magic attacks. Considering that's the voice clip that you'll hear by far the most often in the game unless you play strictly caster classes, I think it's rather important that it gets a preview.

I think the original viera voice 7 or whatever number it was wouldn't have achieved the level of infamy that it did if people could have realized that's how their character would have sounded like in battle before actually confirming it and burning their fantasia.

I'm too asexual to care about the usual boob/butt slider things people are usually clamoring for (or most other physical attributes in a character creator), but ensuring my character doesn't regularly make obnoxious combat sounds is something that's always been considerably more important to me in video games, if that's an option.

As others have said being able to mix and match facial features is a big one, as is more options in general for beards across all races.

The title says it all really. The character creation system is showing its age now, but with the end of 32 bit support, ps3 support having gone ages ago and ps5 now on the way, it is a good time for the devs that at some point in the next 2 or 3 years we get a boost to the character creation system

I enjoy seeing people's ideas for this sort of thing, so I would ask you what you would want in your character creator?
They can be anywhere from plausible to unlikely.

Here's my list in no particular order:

Limbal rings actual rings not edged
Muscle slider for all races, or at least options for chest and limb definition
Bigger butt/bust options (bust min/max sizes have little difference on some races)
Different Ear variations for Miqo'te
Decouple faces from all other features in races (Hrothgar hair, Au ra horns...)
Thin facial hair options such as WOD designer stubble, thin beard etc
More tail/horn variation for Au ra and Hrothgar including length and thickness
Some digitgrade added to Hrothgar/Viera/Miqo'te/Au Ra
Ponytail variation that doesn't have a heavy fringe
Higlight strength in all hairstyles
Ear size for lalafells
Eyebrows for highlanders
Scar options for the body
Defined fingers and toes nails/claws for all races
Sclera tone options


What would you like to see in an updated character creation?

I second Muscle slider for all races. Add slim/bulk slider too.
I second Body Scars for all races.
Tattoos for all races.
I also would be interested in the possibility that the bandana can be its own unisex hairstyle, so that I can wear glasses and a bandana at the same time. We already see that being done with Snow's hair.
