Help please a summoner worried

i have been playing 4 days now this is 5th day, I am a level 52 Summoner I went in crystal tower in a 24 party and got slaughtered twice i stood well away from the bosses still attacking but still got killed. so what i am asking is my level cloth gear not good enough and how would i strengthen it.

Could you list the gear you have? We can check how suitable it might be and suggestions for upgrades.

It may seem like a silly questions, but are you making sure to stay out of AoE's? And how much do you know about the mechanics?

Sometimes not all mechanics have telegraph that are obvious and can have insta kill. Eg. Meteor seems to be one that catches people off guard in LoTA and often usually see at least 1 deaths.

You can check the gear on the lodestone. That being said:

Shimm, you are still running around with some under level 50 gear. Your weapon is only level 45 so far. While you can and should do your summoner job-quest level 50 which grants you the basic level 50 job gear, you can (and should) also try to buy the ilevel 120 level 50 gear with poetic stones at Mor Dhona (even upgradeable to ilevel 130)

But even with the best gear available, the crystal tower has a few instant death and heavy dmg mechanics. Like in the fight against Behemoth where you will die to the meteor if you didn't hide behind a rock, or in the final fight in the Labyrinth of the Ancients against Phlegethon where Ancient Flare will kill anyone not behind the shield, activated by standing on the plattform.

Gear is important but so is mechanics. Simply standing away from the boss is no guarantee that you'll take no damage. Make sure you are handling mechanics properly.

For instance, the final boss of the second crystal tower raid has an attack he uses after coming back from summoning meteors. If you aren't a tank, it WILL kill you unless you are standing on one of the aoes that make you float that tend to be dropped next to the boss

So as to not confuse you OP, Pepsi was referring to the ilevel 120 gear that exists in mor dhona, to buy with your poetics. That gear can be than upgraded to 130 gear.

Since no one has mentioned it yet, it is also more than possible to stand too far away, especially in 24 man content. If you're too far from your healer to get their AoE healing you can easily die to unavoidable raid wide damage. There is also some mechanics that you have to do properly in 24 man content or you just die. It's entirely possible you just didn't do something that just resulted in a guaranteed death. E.g. many mechanics involve standing behind a rock to avoid a kill effect.

So, it should probably be stated that distance from the boss does not mean you'll survive. You need to do mechanics and dodge AoE indicators on the ground. In fact, there are a number of AoE patterns (donut and cone) that are harder to dodge if you're further away, while being close has only one pattern to dodge (circle on the boss). And even then, it's easily dodgeable (Otherwise playing melee would be suffering.)

Everyone's on the Meteors and Ancient Flare, but is also incredibly likely, being severely undergeared, that Bone Dragon was also shredding them, since we don't really bother with mechanics anymore and heal through the damage. Properly geared players can mostly take it, but OP was probably getting wrecked with every revival.
