If you don't like the MSQ, then you should probably find another game. It's not being forced on you, nor are you being held at gunpoint to play the game.

And like I said in my previous post. FF games tell stories first and foremost and it works around that. It's why there's an MSQ to begin with. It's to continue the story of the Adventurer turned Warrior of Light / Champion of Eorzea.

You know what you're getting from the name. You know what to expect. Not SE's fault that some people decided to jump in blind and complain that it's not like <Insert other game here> despite the fact that plenty of people continue to play it, being rather content with how it is (in broader strokes, at least)

You don't care about the story for whatever reason? Go play something else. SE isn't going to change their main selling point because a vocal minority is upset.

EDIT: I would've suggested "skip potion" but then you'd still have to play story and it's clear just how terrible an idea that is to you. Actually having reason to do stuff? Heresy.
No I definitely didn't get the idea of the other titles I've played that I was getting an extremely long unavoidable story that's mostly cutscenes and talking to npcs unless I pay up. I remember getting into alot of random battles from walking around in the overworld ''mindlessly'' killing as you put it. Did you know games like guild wars and wow have msqs as well? You can read all the quest text and watch cutscenes if you feel like it.

Let me ask you a question, what do you do when you've finished the msq? If you don't like doing mindless buisness then I assume you don't raid, roulette, hunt,do the 60 fate grinds, gather craft and all of that.

And I do have a reason to do stuff. I raid for example because it's fun and that's my reason. I'm not doing it because I feel I have an obligation lorewise.

Also the fact that the potion even exists means it's not exactly a ''vocal minority''. They saw the profits they could make off of it
