Sell cactpot tickets on the marketboard

    1. Pay MGS for cactpot tickets; you pick the numbers.
    2. Sell tickets on the marketboard for gil.
    3. Profit

Essentially serves as both MGS and gil sinks, plus tax on marketboard sales.

I don't think the system is set up for it. You don't get the tickets as physical inventory items so there's nothing to actually sell.

So more ppl will use RMT to buy these tickets from bots to get the MGP mounts without doing anything.

Idea is not bad but bots will abuse it hard.

SE has gone out of their way to make sure there is absolutely no way to make gil off of MGP, or to otherwise make any use of MGP on one character for another character. This is because it would open up the doors for real money trading for in-game gambling-like activity, which would be a big no-no.

This is the real crux. Gold Saucer has a decisive barrier around it. Nothing you do in the Gold Saucer can make you a stronger adventurer, and likewise, your resources as a player has absolutely minimal impact on your prize earnings at the venue.

For now, it should stay that way.

Interesting replies, but I'm not certain that I understand the nuances, since one can already spend gil in order to obtain MGP (there's a vendor in the Entrance and Card Square).

    - Let's see. A player is already restricted to spending MGP for a maximum of three cactpot tickets per week.
    - Obviously, these need to be Inventory Key Items that can be sold via Retainer on the marketboard. Or I suppose general Inventory, if you want the freedom of simply trading tickets to someone, or sending in the mail.
    - So player buys 1-3 tickets, choosing numbers for each ticket.
    - They then post 1-3 tickets to marketboard.
    - Either someone buys the ticket(s), or they go unsold.
    - Regardless, after that week's draw, there is a full week within which the tickets must be redeemed at Cactpot Square.
    - If the tickets go unredeemed, then they become untradeable inventory items, like expired Valentone's Day chocolates.

    Am I missing something here?

You can only spend gil to buy MGP if you have less than 500 MGP. This is again in place to strictly prevent people from using gil to gain anything but a tiny starting amount of MGP. As soon as you offer something that can get people huge amounts of MGP by spending gil, you also offer something that allows people to spend huge amounts of real money to buy huge amounts of gil to gamble online and ruin their lives. SE ain't gonna have none of that in their game since it would cause an almighty uproar among the community and the parents of the community (online gambling is heavily frowned upon), and it would force SE to make the game adults only as well. There is a reason games don't have casino-like activities in them at all anymore. Remember how pokemon used to have a slot machine area in the first game? Yeah that doesn't exist anymore in the remakes and sequels because it promoted gambling.

You can only buy MGP when you have less than 500 MGP. The intent is clear: the goal isn't to let you exchange gil for MGP; the goal is to have some way to make sure, no matter how badly you screw up or how unlucky you get you can always get enough to participate in the attractions that cost MGP. It's just there as a safety net. Either to help newcomers who missed the tokens in their inventory get started, or for people who made a mistake and somehow spent all of their MGP. They want to make it as close to free as possible for new attendees to get started.

Ah, I didn't realize there was a cap on the gil > MGP purchase. Thank you.
