Meanwhile, most people are providing several reasons why they'd like savage content to be delayed by a few days.
"I want savage to be delayed because I dont want to feel pressured to do the thing I want to do over other things I want to do" or "I want savage to be delayed because I dont want to have to get all the day 1 stuff done on day 1" arent exactly compelling reasons.

Its like saying "I dont want new crafting recipes to be implemented until I have a week to gather the new mats so I dont have multiple things I want to do the second the server comes up with a new patch".

Why do raiders have to get singled out to choose between raiding behind the pressures of a weekly lockout, and experiencing everything else in a patch first before the community inevitably tries to spoil things for them beforehand?
Uh, they dont? Unless they're racing for world firsts, which is a trade-off they're consciously making, and something a whooooooooooooooole lot of people who raid arent actually doing.

Raiders participating in the world first race actually get to enjoy normal mode and use it to speculate and strategize savage.
Three reasons. I don't even raid until the weekend after the patch and I lose out because of the first point. Oh, this also wasn't the case for Edensgate, and nobody had an issue with it, why is the request a problem now?

This change means that normal mode is not a gate for savage, and can be enjoyed on it's own merits. Thats not a player problem, thats a game design problem.

    Lets see now:

Progression streamers being able to actually stream and promote normal mode content and primals right out of the gate
Progression raiders who's timezone or work hours don't align well with server up being pressured (for whatever reason, that hardly matters) to skip content.
High end FC crafters not being expected to forgo their own progression push to feed the raid team melded gear ASAP.

    Vs

The ignominy of Savage not unlocking immediately, be it 1 day or 1 week.

But yeah, you keep fighting the good fight.

As if 'It's your problem' is a compelling reason.

I'm all for a delay, but you have to realize there would be a second maintenance to add savage and the new crafts, and the accompanying EX trial might also get delayed, as releasing it before the crafted weapons would hurt the market.

Wanting to access the content earlier and avoid an additional maintenance are perfectly valid reasons to oppose a delay, by the way.

    Edit:

Right, the new tomes would also be delayed.

I'm not really sure about the whole thing of needing to delay crafted/EX especially as that kind of defeats a good portion of the reasoning behind a small delay. Maybe that's a stronger case for keeping the unlock delay down to a day or two to minimise the need for anything as disruptive as this?

SE do have the systems in place to add or remove events, NPCs and content gating on the fly without a maintenance though. Just float around one of the seasonal events that either starts or ends without a maint to see this in action, the whole kit and caboodle just poofs into thin air. I assume it'd be straightforward enough to handle the Savage unlock NPC in the same manner.

And agreed on your final point, the issue is more how that point has put been across earlier in this thread.

Let me refute the clutching at straws argument of preventing additional maintenance. In 5.1, SE performed an emergency patch that fixed problems with Ishgardian restoration. For the first time, this patch did not require maintenance or the servers being shut down, SE flipped a switch and the already patched precautionary changes were activated. There is no reason why they couldn't implement savage as part of the initial maintenance, and then flip the switch one week later with no maintenance required. It's a simple case of enabling the savage quest.

The one downside to this is that the savage content will be datamineable a week before it is released, but the only things that could possibly be learned from that are what the savage exclusive final fight form is and data on the loot, hardly anything to worry about.

They won't release crafted gear early. The i450 released at the same time as Eden's Gate Savage. Not only would it make savage easier, it would kill the market for the new gear. With crafting and gathering being made as accessible and easy as ever, why spend several million buying the new gear when you have a week to make it yourself?

It would make it more fair, but differences in hardware, ping and mod use make a level playing field an impossibility.

Thats what I was thinking if they delay savage crafted gear will get delayed with it.

A week would be a tad much, but if SE has the system in place to release savage but have it locked for 24 hours after the patch has gone live that would give people plenty of time to enjoy the new story at their own pace while not hindering the race for those that wish to take park in it.
