Was nothing lewd about that fight. Seriously get over it. Thank you devs for a wonderful raid tier. I enjoyed all of it.

What exactly is the issue? Last time I checked this was a game?
Should I feel uncomfortable in the summer when I go to the beach and there's young childeren in bikini's swarming the place?
Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
Bikinis at the beach, body suits as gymnast or ballerine... are you this uncomfortable with the reality of the body? We are not "pure spirits". We have a physical body and skin has nothing to do with sexualisation, it is Nature. Sexualisation is in your own eyes.
So in this patch we:
Kill a pregnant beastwoman (Included for "Muh Sexualization" purposes. Look at all that skin showing)
Unintentionally let a Auri woman face an excrutiating death through serious Evangelion-ing
Let a pair of young women put themselves in danger by using the powers of a sentient death machine to turn one of them into a mad Ice/Light god.
But No. THIS is the line that is crossed. A young woman shows off her ankles. The horror.
I had assumed Ryne was around 14 but in fact I don't think her age has been stated. What we do know is that she was taken from her parents at a very young age and doesn't remember her name (so I'd assume that was between 1 and 3), 10 years in captivity and then 3 years with Thancred. So, it is just possible that she is over 16, despite not looking it, but it's also quite possible she is not.
Personally, I thought the costume was inappropriate for a child. However, I concede that in lore she may be over the age of consent (16 in my country).
Having said all that, when I did a search to see if her age had been stated somewhere in the game, the first suggestion that came up when I typed 'Ryne' was: Ryne Mods
Considering her age is not explicitly stated and taking into account what was said about modding characters at the Live Letter and the possible legal issues that could arise from it, I am frankly baffled that the devs went and put a young, and possibly underage, character into such an overtly sexy costume.

How.... I mean... that has to be a joke right?
How do people keep overreacting to everything and getting offended by every little thing. How do you even think about this kind of thing seeing this fight? The only thing going through my mind when i was doing it was "goddamnit why is that red eye above her head so small" and "Haha we have to turn around when she use "redress" that's clever! "
I honestly believe that this sort a topic/complaints are the one sexualizing her and if that's the only thing you can think of when you see it, you might be the problem....
Let me get this straight: you are perfectly comfortable with themes likeThe character/monster designs and the fight design are actually really cool. But the conflict between the body design and Ryne’s face really distracts from that, and that’s a shame. For example, my own reaction to seeing that pre-fight scene upon entering the instance was, “Oooh, I want to cosplay thaaaaat’s Ryne’s baby face on cleavage [cringe].” I couldn't enjoy the fight because I was too busy thinking, "YIKES," over and over, especially on every Redress mechanic. I'm still not sure if I want to go back in or not because of how uncomfortable it made me.
-genocide via gasbombs
-extermination of an entire species
-violent ether corruption and resulting extremely painful transformations into a hideous monster
-killing all manner of sentient creatures as your daily bread....
but a slightly babyfaced anime character gets you all riled up?
Recommendation: adjust your comfort level.
The only "cringe-worthy" thing I see here is people freaking out over a heavily censored Shiva transformation (I went the pervy route and zoomed in, you don't see anything) and a resemblance of a face.
Yeah, Cid saying that so nonchalantly send a cold shiver down my spine.
Poor Gaius.

You don't need a particularly dirty mind to realise how some people might interpret it, tbh. Just a basic understanding of human nature.

When the game's story becomes self-aware:
This again?
You need to bear in mind that English-speaking cultures are quite diverse. Some are liberal and permissive, others much more conservative. If something makes people feel uncomfortable, then they should be able to say so without being accused of having a 'problem' attitude.
My country has had numerous child-abuse and grooming scandals over the past decade, and more cases are coming to light. I definitely think that's contributed to my own feelings of discomfort in this case.
As I said above, the fact that we don't have a definite age for Ryne isn't helping matters. If she is underage, then I would definitely say there's an 'ick' factor in how she's portrayed in the raid, for me. What is appropriate for an adult isn't always appropriate for a minor (even a fictional one). Similarly, if she is an adult then I don't have an issue with it. Unfortunately we're just guessing which category Ryne falls into.
