Caught fish sound effect.....why? Can it be turned off?

Why on earth is there a phone ringing every time I catch a fish!? This has to be the most annoying effect since DRK was first introduced.

This is driving me insane.

If anyone figures out how to get rid of this effect (and I don't mean mute everything) please tell me because I am about to put my speakers through the window.

If you're referring to the light dinging sound effect when the exclamation points appear, you can disable that (and the points themselves) by going to Character Config > Battle Effects Settings and setting Own to Show None. Just remember to turn them back on when you're done fishing.
