    Constant disconnects 9001 9002

I am experiencing constant disconnects on server Omega. I've been playing for about two weeks, the disconnects started happening on my third day I believe (after I already bought the game, oh the irony). I searched for a solution back then and applied some of them - mainly opened ports in my router. It seemed to fix it, there were some occasional disconnects once a day, but it was fine... Until today. I'm being disconnected constantly, at one point I was unable to play the game because I was being disconnected within 30 seconds of logging in, again and again. I've read somewhere, whether it was reddit or even these forums I don't remember, that the fault lies in one "node" that some players are routed through to the server. They suggested using a VPN and it is laughable that I need to pay for additional service to play a subscription based game. Nevertheless I will try and see if it fixes it. As a side note I need to add that I've been playing MANY online games and never had I encountered such connection issues, which leads me to believe that it's SE fault.

Is there anything else I can do to optimize my connection? Anyone can confirm that it is indeed a faulty node?

Good morning and thank you for posting in the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums

Are you connected directly to the router or are you using WiFi? Additionally does this occur in a specific area in game? Or are you disconnected immediately when signing on?

I am experiencing the same error. My desktop, which is wired, works perfectly fine, whereas my laptop (Razer blade 2017) disconnects after being logged in for around a minute. I did a ping test to the Aether DC with 7% packet loss (3/40) with an average of 93ms and a max of 129ms. None of these numbers seem so bad that I should be getting dropped so frequently.

I just realized that the op is receiving 900x errors. I'm experiencing 90001 only. Feel free to disregard my error if it's irrelevant to this and let me know so I can open a separate thread for it.

I am connected via a cable. Currently I'm using a different ISP, and so far I had no disconnects, but it's still the middle of a week so there's less server load. If it turns out it is my other ISP's fault, is there anything I could do to improve my connection outside of being wired, opening ports and changing ISP? Or would a VPN be my best solution? As for Falmont, have you tried the other solutions mentioned here?

Thank you for the reply Sumerechny.

When you say you are using a different ISP with no issues, are you at a different location? Are you still using the PC or router?

If you are experiencing a routing issue with your ISP, a VPN may route you around any potential issues, but this is not guaranteed to work depending on where exactly the issue is.

As for optimizing your network, you can try some of the following if you haven't already:

    1) Try resetting your router by turning it off, then back on after a few minutes.

    2) Make sure your anti-virus has the proper exceptions for Final Fantasy XIV. This includes the install folder and the locally-saved data folder (located My Documents > My Games > Final Fantasy XIV).

    3) Try a clean boot. Simply open the task manager and select the 'Start up' tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC. This will make sure that no background processes are interfering with the game.

    4) The game will use the Internet Explorer web browser to connect to the internet. Open Internet Explorer, then open the "Tools" setting, go to "Internet Options" and adjust the following settings:
    - Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
    - Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
    - Under the "Privacy" tab, click “Advanced” and select ‘Accept’ under both First Party and Third Party Cookies.
    - Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
    - Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
    - Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

Yes, I am using a different ISP about 100 km away from the location where I use another ISP and experience issues. In both these locations I use the same PC connected via cable. It seems like it is indeed a routing issue. But as I mentioned earlier, no other online game had similar issues in both locations, which is strange to me. I will try a VPN when I get the chance and see if it helps. Thanks.

Good morning and thank you for the reply.

Falmont, could you create your own thread and include the following:

    -Platform
    -Error messages received
    -Wired or WIFI connection
    -When/where disconnect occurs
-Everything you have tried to resolve the issue
