    Lightning Mage

Let's name this new concept for a fourth healer that I've seen floating around in various forms: Lightning Mage!
    • Wields a hammer
    • Heals through the power of lightning (a different direction from BLM damaging lightning)
    • Magic Hammer or similar move is a must (ty BLU for this awesome reminder)
    • Can borrow from Thor, Zeus and similar lore, but own it in a unique, cuddly, Final Fantasy way

Not sure of specifics, of course. There must be a strong Lightning focus, but if healing doesn't make sense through this "element" then of course I'd be open to Water-based healing. Perhaps Lightning Mage is strong with both lightning and water, and has higher-level (50+) skills that combine the two together for damage, perhaps an AoE in the style of Holy/Gravity/Art of War.

Lightning is described in lore as the element of cathalysis. An element of transformation, transfer of energy.

I don't see a hammer wielding lightning mage (Thor) as a healer but I could see a mechanomancer, as one.

A class that wears hammers, and has a powerpack on their back, charging up medical turrets with energy and setting down power stations for people in their vicinity to get charged up. I think a tech based class couls potentially use lightning as a healing force.

Hmm, was envisioning more of a harnessing of the world's natural energies instead of tech. Something more positive than what Ramuh stands for, but continuing with sorcery (i.e. plz not an engineer Cid-healer).

Well, harnessing the worlds natural energies is what conjurers or white mages do. So that spot is taken.

Irony is, CNJ originally had access to Thunder spells (along with Fire and Ice too!) in the original release version of FFXIV 1.0 - it was when Jobs were added the class was redesigned and Fire, Ice and Lightning given to THM so as to have it be a better fit for BLM (so as to allow CNJ to be more focused on healing for upgrading to WHM). However CNJ/WHM could still cross-class Thunder even in ARR up til a certain patch removed it. Theoretically I don't see why CNJ/WHM couldn't be given it back, other than reluctance on SE's part.

As for a hammer-wielding class, technically we already have hammers in the game, but they're tools used by BSM and ARM and are not weapons - ignore Gaia in the Eden raids, she was given a hammer purely for the 'coolness' factor by Tetsuya Nomura who was unware that there was not actually a hammer using Disciple of War or Magic class actually in the game, and as NPCs always seem to thumb their noses at the Armoury System (*cough* Raubahn dual-wielding swords *cough* Merlwyb dual-wielding pistols *cough* Rostnsthal dual wielding a pistol in one hand and a single-handed axe in the other! *cough cough*), it doesn't mean a hammer-using class for players is coming alas (of course that doesn't mean it won't ever happen, but it's just unlikely).

As someone who mained elemental shaman in WoW, I admit being a little disappointed there's only one lightning based spell among the casters, and it's a DoT at that.

Four: Thunder 1/3, Thunder 2/4, Verthunder, Verthunder 2
I counted Thunder I-IV as the same spell since they're upgrades and mutually exclusive, but yeah I forgot Verthunder/II.
