Pretty much. In my run once we figured out the mechanic I had enough time to type out what color was coming first.

Having said that, you had to:

    1) Identify what color debuff you had,
    2) Identify which paper color you were getting hit with first (opposite your original debuff color),
    3) Identify what color portal it was going into and
    4) Identify what color portal it was coming out of to be opposite of your NEXT debuff and position yourself accordingly
    5) All of the above while keeping some semblance of DPS uptime on the boss.

All of this within about a sub 10 second window (I think it's actually closer to about 5s). I can understand why this is frustrating to players. I think the portal mechanic while interesting is can be very frustrating with camera limitations.

That's asking a LOT for normal, casual raiders.

However, E7N does make me not want to go in there ever again especially with people who have never done it. If we didn't have a superstar RDM helping the healers with Raises there was NO way we would have beat it.

Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
