As someone who has left a boat, I agree it’s terrible there’s no lockout on it.
It doesn’t emulate real fishing at all.

Another problem with this that most of the achievements require very different conditions from each other. Even if you make a premade party in order to try to get a specific goal, the other 2 parties on your boat might be trying to do something else and you're all fighting each other. One party might be trying to get the jellyfish achievement (and therefore actively avoiding triggering spectral currents) while another might be trying to get the 10k or 16k title achievement (and therefore need to get spectrals in every zone), while another might be full of n00bz that are there simply to get XP and have no idea what they're doing.

bad content design is bad content design. No clue what they were thinking..
What was SE thinking when they tied rewards to it? That people would stick around and finish the run when they have a very little chance at getting the reward at the end? At this point it makes me wonder if SE has any idea how their player base functons.

If they add lockouts they should add 8-man parties option. Nothing worse than getting a premade fisher party for a certain title, catching 140/150 jellyfish just to see some rando outside of our party popping a spectral in remaining time and ruining all our chances. When there are different parties with different goals on the same boat, it doesnt go well for either side.
They could add a bait that only targets the original fish pool that can be used to filter out the spectral fish while the spectral is active. This should make it easier for 8 man premades to participate in filling instances with single queuers and not getting their challenge ruined by accident. If they add lockouts they should add 8-man parties option. We had a couple people leave after not getting a current in the first area. The kicker? We got one on each of the next and several of us broke 10k (I literally got 10016). The 70% bonus at the end really helped. Their loss.
