Fix ocean fishing or add lockouts for leavers

This is the third run in a row that was ruined by people leaving.

It just seems this is the new thing to do. If a rainbow doesn't pop the first hole, you have 5-6 people (or more) leave. Since it's still within the 15 minute grace period SE gives, they can requeue for a new boat with better luck.

All this does is screw over the remaining people who are on the boat, leaving less people to try and pop rainbows and making it a bad experience overall. Something needs to be done about this. Either lower the grace period to 3 or 5 minutes, or hand out lockouts to individual characters.

Maybe a 24h lockout from ocean fishing if you leave before a certain point, and escalating from there would stop idiots from screwing the rest of us over and wasting time.

I have stuck it out on each fishing trip myself. BUT, that being said I can not blame them for leaving. Ocean fishing is so heavily RNG based that for those of us who have spent days trying to get the mount it is just an instant sense of failure when that first rainbow doesn't proc. The problem isn't so much people leaving, it's the RNG based system on an arbitrarily long wait timer that encourages them to leave or else spend another hour and thirty mins waiting for yet another chance to be disappointing.

I agree that its awful that people are leaving (even though I can understand them..its just so annoying with that horrible RNG) but I am not sure if they can truly do something for that. If they put down a timer then people will just afk for it. And if its something long as 24 hours than you will punish people that have to leave because they have something important happen. (Which is I believe the reason why Yoshida allows them to leave in the first place)

Maybe it would already help if we could trigger more than one spectral per place. With that not getting any at the first one might still trigger three later.

Yeah I support this. Lock them out for the next 12 or 24 hours IMO. I was in one where maybe 10 people left. My 8-man lost 3 people.

Give it the same lockout penalty as leaving a dungeon, at the least.

I got a better idea, delete ocean fishing. It's very poorly designed. RNG stacked on top of RNG stacked on top of RNG stacked on top of RNG is not fun and being dependent on other people only makes it worse. This was poorly planned out content. We lost a dungeon for this? Terrible tradeoff.

This, so much this. Crappy FFXI features needs to stay in FFXI. An inexcusable wait period, a hellish RNG wall and no reward beyond the minion and the nigh impossible to get mount.

If this is the kind of half-assed content we're getting in exchange for losing a dungeon, then go back to giving us two dungeons per patch and leave this garbage on the cutting room floor.

I don't blame those people one bit for leaving. You essentially have one chance to net 10k points, if you don't reach that threshold then too bad you have to wait a few hours just to try again. SE ought to rethink the godawful RNG mechanics or do away with/shorten that 2-hour window.
