How old is Ryne???? (Slight 5.2 Spoilers)

That certainly tracks; they were both young-ish adults in the 1.0 Ul'dah opening, so they're certainly contemporaries.

Lol grey hair I just read that... yeah you cant take grey hair into account at all she may be like myself who is genetically predisposed to going grey at a young age (I started going grey when I was 15 and am now damn near completely grey except for a small streak like Rogue from the X-men and I'm going to be 39 this April!!!) I've also been wearing glasses since I was 5 but that's neither here nor there. Then again in 1.0 she did have that Silvery blonde hair to begin with.

Yeah, Thancred is 32 according to his lorebook profile. Corroborated by the Tales From The Calamity about Minfilia, where she mentioned he was seventeen during their first meeting (during the "ten years ago" Echo vision in 1.0).

It also mentions Minfilia being five years younger than Thancred, ie 27 at the time of ARR (again corroborated by her lorebook profile). Which means F'lhaminn is ten years older than Minfilia.

I know there's nothing wrong with either of those traits on a younger character - especially when they're so fond of giving characters naturally-silver hair - but still, when you're introduced to "Minfilia's mother" you'd assume her to be a generation older and her appearance seems to line up with that. They're only ten years apart in age, but you wouldn't realise that from within the game.

It does make Thancred's attempts to flirt with F'lhaminn make a lot more sense when you know she's not much older than him.

Lol sorry for sort of derailing the topic. My point was to show that the game has a track record of having trouble portraying what age characters are meant to be thought of. I think they mostly wanted to nail home the whole Ryne hasn't had many life experiences due to her being imprisoned in Eulmore out of public sight. While also trying to give her the otherworldly look that our minfillia had once she became the word of the mother.

As it pertains to F'lhaminn, keep in mind that a lot of JRPGs treat anyone over 30 as an old fogey - most notably Cid in VII is portrayed as a sort of grumpy old man despite only being 32 (11 years older than Cloud), doing such things as sleeping though a mission briefing and gondola rides in the Gold Saucer and general curmudgeonly behavior. At 37 F'lhaminn is getting pretty close to middle age, though her "older" appearance is based mostly around her attire (a plain smock with eyeglasses).

I always thought Ryne is about 11-12 because she's really tiny. She's Hyur and they are supposed to be of average height. But Ryne is way smaller than my female Au Ra who is almost at minimum height (147 cm). My Au Ra is tiny compared to Hyurs or real girls. Even I'm taller at about 152 cm. Back in school, I've always been the smallest in class, but even I wasn't like 135 cm at age 14, when I stopped growing.

What I wanted to say: I'm small and was a very small child, but Ryne is way smaller than me. How can she be about 14-16? If she were Elezen I'd say it's normal, but she is a Hyur girl.

Remember that on Japan girls of 1'70m are considered very tall and on many japanese works is not rare to see a decent ammount of female characters shorter than 1'50m specially if they are still on their growing phase
