    I leveled Archer/Bard, Pugilist/Monk, and Marauder/Warrior to 50 back in 1.x, and those honestly served me well until ShB. Unless this game goes many more expansions, I can't say I'm in any way sad to have "wasted" three iterations on them.

    I started with BLM then eventually switched to SMN during ARR. Both jobs are still solid even today, but I still prefer SMN. Plus SMN has been through a redemption arc aesthetic-wise.

    It's less about knowing future patches and more about knowing me now. I'm a much better caster player than I am a melee player, so if I were to go back as (the me of 2020) I'd probably main Black Mage instead of Dragoon like (the me of 2014) did.
