When did the 10k payout on Mini Cactpot become so rare?

I remember being able to almost guarantee a 10k payout about 20% of the time. Nowadays however the RNG has been dialled back so far I don't think I've seen one in a month of trying. It's not that big a deal I suppose but it was the main way I was ever going to be able to afford some of the pricier items. It's made me stop trying now. Unless they increase the payouts or else reduce the prices of the prizes I imagine I'm not the only one turning my back on the Golden Saucer.

I honestly think it just comes down to dumb luck my man. I typically get at least 1 10k a week. The scratch offs shouldn't be your main source of income anyhow though, you should be doing the fashion report if you're trying to get the expensive stuff since that's a guranteed 60k a week, with plenty of tools out there to tell you an easy way to score 80 points every week.

There are also much easier ways to get MGP with minimal work and just a little bit of time, mainly doing weekly challenges, like doing x amount of Lord of Verminion matches. You can just do the solo challenge ones or whatever and they're pretty easy to get through.

Of course I'm speaking from the pit of failure thereby questioning the true randomness of the RNG :-)

One thing I noticed is the chance of a maximum payout on a ticket seems to increase if you haven't logged in for a while (few days to a week or two at the least) and come back to the game - it doesn't mean the next time you do minicactpot the 10000 MGP reward is guaranteed, but I've been amazed at just how frequent it is.

Wait, what? The mini-game that costs 10 MGP to play and takes 15 seconds to do should pay out 100k? Thats almost twice the weekly payout on fashion report, for something you can do 21 times as often. A year ago when we heard that the Regalia mount would show up via a crossover event and cost 200k MGP, a few people did the math and found that you could make that in a week without too much trouble(it was something like 180k from challenge log and fashion report with no extra gate or minigame grinding). Mini-cact is fine as it is.

I think MistyMew was just being goofy and superfluous, ha ha. But yeah, people were a bit silly about that Regalia mount thing. Use the right buffs and you get nearly 70k MGP from Fashion Report alone, often costing you <5k gil to get maximum MGP. Do 5 GATEs for your weeklies, bam, another 30k+ MGP. It's really generous.

Though that does make me think about the difficulty of balancing MGP costs. For someone like me that lives there, it feels like there are no sinks and whenever something new comes out, it barely makes a dent on our reserves, and it's hard to care about the MGP we have. On the other hand, if you are not big on Gold Saucer and something you want is added, it seems like you can't get MGP fast enough. I liked when they added that really expensive mount. Even if it's kind of meh, it's something for Gold Saucer fans to want to get.

Maybe they should add some more really expensive prizes down the line, or something with no defined limit in value like furniture.

MGP rains from the sky now. You just do the Fashion Report, mini cactpot and lose 15 vermillion tournament matches in 5 minutes with Retreat and there's 150-200k a week. It adds up fast, I bought everything and capped mine ages ago and just sit on it. It makes adding new prizes pointless because we just instantly buy them all.

It's also wildly unbalanced. The Vermillion tournament and challenge logs are massive payout for sucking at it and the Triple Triad tournament pays peanuts with a 2 week cooldown and more time investment. GATES are fairly bad and the smaller mini-games have lost all purpose. The jumbo cactpot is hilariously outdated too. You win the 1 in 10000, huge luck that you hit every 60-ish years average ...grats, you got half a Cactuar mount.
