Those fights aren’t even remotely difficult and it honestly boggles my mind that people think it is wrong for a GAME to have GAMEPLAY. If you don’t want to be challenged then watch a movie, but be careful, there are some thought provoking movies out there that might dare to make you think.

As I’ve stated, optional difficulty placed off to the side in your raids and your difficulties above normal are totally fair to me. Where I kinda did a slow head turn was at the core story “daring to test me.”

Again, I cleared it, but on the other side of it all I kinda had a very “take it easy, you’re just the story and the base access product” kinda feel.
Any reasonably skilled player shouldnt have a problem with these duties even on normal difficulty, if you think this is the game "daring to test you" you're missing something fundamental about your class or encounter design.

Maybe this is a sign that you need to practice and get better. If you have issues with role quests on very easy you are the problem not the game they purposely make the MQ near brain dead easy so people can get through it. Look up some videos or guides and improve yourself rather than complaining that the game isn't handing you stuff for free.

Welp forget my effort to sound the less agressive i could in my last post.
But you're the one coming to the public forum on an MMO, to complain about some of the easiest quest there is if you're not brain dead, crying about the very bad difficulty that dares to challenge you even in easy mode, and when you have exactly the type of answer such a troll topic can generate you can't think of anything better than saying the community is "conditioned".

Clearly, mmo and games in general are not for you go watch a movie and let us conditioned being in peace thanks

You mean that the community would like everyone in the party to contribute in a meanigful, level appropriate way to the content thats being played together?

You're right with your guess that those quests are "gates" that check wether or not you're able to do the bare minimum on the job you picked before you get to play with others. If you dont pass this bar, the logical conclusion is to improve yourself - in my experience this community is very supportive towards anyone who wants to do that. But you have to be willing to - and so far you dont really seem to be...
You have two options right now: Either improve yourself (which you can do by asking the community for help, I know that a lot of people are willing to coach and give advice if asked politly) - or to be upset that improving is something you need to do in order to not be a burden on other people. You can just sit there and blame the game and its community for your troubles - or you can do something about them.
    Your call.

Also, little sidenote: Usually people past level 50 arent really considered Scrubs anymore by most players - they're willing to give actuall newbies a pass and teach them the ropes, but past level 50 you're not that fresh to the game anymore. If you're a returning player, speaking up about it is usually a good idea aswell. In my experience the community is supportive of people who seek support and are being vocal about it - they're not so on board with handing out freebies to people who are just silent, dont ask for help and still mess up. Not saying that you want or need help/advice is often considered as a sign that you want to figure it out yourself - but then you're required to do that in a way that doesnt impact the party to much.

You managed to beat the quest itself, correct? If so, I'd say things are working as intended...

A line needs to be drawn somewhere. Players should absolutely be expected to perform at some level that isn't just an automatic victory. FFXIV isn't a visual novel where you just point and click.

My suggestion? Ask around for someone willing to take you under their wing. Get comfortable interacting with not only other players but the game itself. It'll help prepare you for future road blocks not only in this game but potentially others as well.

I might be mixing terminology here, but I think it comes down to... game design philosophy maybe. Here, the story is an intrinsic part of the game itself - a huge chunk of the game's content, including all of its expansions, is quite literally locked behind the story. This is something that ive actually seen turn friends off of the game entirely, because they'd prefer to do the story on their own time but the story is so connected to everything else that you can't progress without doing dungeons/trials/group content, and you can't unlock most of the game without doing the story. The two can't be separated in this game.

Not so for most of WoW. The vast majority of the story is entirely ungated - in that you can pretty much just walk into whatever zone you want and just start doing quests. You don't need to finish the story in Kalimdor to start the story in Outland - and I'm fact WoW consists of a very large number of stories that aren't necessarily connected to each other rather than one overarching "main scenario quest" (barring like... a few specific questlines that cover the "main story" of a given expansion). Dungeons and other content are also largely not gated by the story. You can do whatever dungeons and raids you want, in most cases without doing anything story related at all. The lore isn't a gate to content, and (most) content isn't a gate to (most) lore.

It's also partly a community thing. In FF, the story tests you. In WoW... your performance speaks for itself. The story doesn't need to test you because every detail of your performance is easily and readily accessible to everyone. If you're bad, everyone will know it without even having to stop and wonder why the mobs are taking so long to die. And if you're paying attention, and care enough to notice, so will you.

...not sure how coherent that is since I'm very tired right now, but just some general thoughts on the differences between the two games.

WOW doesn't even offer a casual path.

I dunno when you last played WOW, but my friends and I went back for the anniversary and couldn't get through LFR night after night. BFA LFR is overtuned and overcomplicated for a pub, and it's the easiest raid tier in that game. No pug group on either faction could clear it, we tried both.
