    Patch download stalls

    Hi there, me again.

    I had this issue before with the Steam version of the client on my computer, which I never ended up resolving due to manually patching it with files downloaded on another computer.

    That was mid December, and my standalone PC client has been working just fine since then for patches. But suddenly now, after the recent 5.2 patch (2020.01.31.0000.0000), my download gets to roughly 1GB downloaded before my speed slowly starts to drop (1mb every 30 seconds or so, just slowly ticks down) before eventually stalling on 0mb/s and never picks back up again.

    I have tried both the old client and the new client, and both give the same results, shown below.





    What keeps causing this issue? Why did it affect the steam client in December but only the standalone now? And why does it only seem to stall at roughly 1GB? I have plenty of space left on my SSD where FFXIV is installed (D:\) so it doesn't seem like that should be the cause.

    If anyone has any solutions or theories I'd really appreciate it! I will most likely ask my bf to download the files on his and send them over to me, but if this keeps happening I would like to be able to fix it so I don't have to keep replacing the files every time this happens.

    To clarify, when you downloaded the patch on a different computer, was this using the same internet connection or was it using the same connection/router as your own PC?

    When exactly did this start happening? Do you recall any changes to your PC or home network that coincides with this?

    Nope, it's on a completely different ISP and on the opposite side of the city to me.

    The first time I noticed this was yesterday, just before I wrote my original post. I didn't have a chance to patch/play on Tuesday so it was the first time I launched the game since 5.2 dropped. No changes have been made to my PC or network either.

    I got around to manually patching it with the files from my bf's computer this evening and it worked as expected and became instantly playable, much like when this happened back in December with the Steam Client.
