The problem with waiting is that a lot of the bonus multipliers require a group effort to catch enough fish to trigger them. Also, the bigger the group, the more likely someone will trigger the spectral current. If you wait until interest dies down, you might not get full parties, and that will make it tougher to get enough points for the mount.

What I enjoy most about this game is enjoying content at my own pace. I started 2.0 sometime around, like, 3.3 or something, I think. As of now, I still haven't bought ShB, because there's still enough for me to do as is. I'm not in a world-first rush to 100% this brand new content within a week.

I'm really not seeing the mathematical possibility of this mount as anything but a lottery ticket win. I've been fishing my fingers off, & have yet to break even 6k. It's to the point I just quit out of the game after only getting 571 points on the entire 1st stop of a journey.

Could this be relabeled as something other than an 'achievement'? Because I fail to see how having the Great Gods of RNG rain down upon you is any sort of 'achievement'. 'Got whacked upside the head by dumb luck,' more like?

The biggest bonuses are for catching the rare spectral fish of the region. People only found out the right baits for it recently.
Catch of a Lifetime Catch a ★★★★★ fish. 20%
Fabled Fishers As a party, catch 3 or more ★★★★★ fish. 50%
That is 70% ontop of probably having 10-30% from 10 different fish. Scoring higher than 5k 20%. Catching 15 fish in a spectral 10%. Catch a ★★★★ fish is another 10%.

That is a 120-140% adjustment with just one spectral current. You would need 4-5k points only then, it is not that impossible if you have all the knowledge. Just need a party who knows what its doing with the 5stars.

The way they set up the "catch jellyfish, octupus, sharks" achievement, it is sometimes detrimental to get a spectral current, it would make those more difficult to get - even if the mount/highscore would be easier with more spectrals.
