i have personally tried everything. spent pretty much non-stop on this. the only solution i have found is making a new Windows user account. but the account only ever works once. it has been necessary for me to create a new user account each and every time wanting to play the game. what makes matters worse, is that Square Enix isn't even acknowledging this issue in any ones post. surely they are aware of the error, but still do nothing to resolve it. it doesn't make sense... it is as if they don't want people to play the game.

good grief... it isn't like SE doesn't own enough of my soul as it is. *sigh*

If the error is appearing in Japanese, or just in general, I will say, go and try to change your region for non-unicode programs in clock and region settings, region, then administrative. Changing it back from Japanese, to Irish (My region) fixed it for me. Dunno if this helps others, but it was one fix.
