"An Unexpected error has occurred. Exiting FINAL FANTASY XIV.(6d)"

Apply Patch 5.2: "An Unexpected error has occurred. Exiting FINAL FANTASY XIV.(6d)"
Launcher then crashes. Game does not load.

    Happening here as well..

    1. Rebooted
    2. Reinstalled FFXIV
    3. Removed ACT
    4. Removed some webcam software that had generated some unrelated errors in the DXdiag log.
    5. Checked Nvidia drivers are up to date. Checked card isnt too hot.
    6. Renamed the data folder under My Games and restarted launcher.
    7. Looked in event viewer application and system logs for errors (there wernt any).
    8. Ran Dell Support Assistant (again) for hardware errors My machine is still under its 5 year extended warranty as well.
    9. Opened task manager and shutdown everything that is possibly optional.
    10. Did this: 3) Turn off Fullscreen Optimizations. Find the executable file for the game (normally found in the install folder), right-click it and select 'Properties'. Under the 'Compatibility' tab, check the box labeled 'Disable Fullscreen Optimizations', then click 'Apply'.
    11. Havent removed any USB devices since they are all required for the correct function of the PC. No USB disks or phones attached.
    12. Switched to old black launcher
    13. Set all startup tasks to disabled.

    None of this helps.

Other games, eg World of Warcraft, are fine.

Something has changed in the Square Enix software to cause this. Until patch 5.2 I have never had errors with FF XIV.

it appears to be an issue with a Windows user account in admin mode. after i re-enabled UAC the error was gone.

well, in the end this not an acceptable solution. i sincerely hope Square Enix intends to resolve this issue. i don't know about others, but personally am not going to keep multiple Windows user accounts handy because they don't like the way i use my PC. i don't know why the hell it even matters to Square Enix why someone has UAC disabled or not. straight whack.

well... other users have reported something trying to inject might be issue. users with Mactype have been able to resolve it. and some seem to resolve by launching through Geforce Experience. i don't have Mactype and have already tried the later. i have personally also tried a 100% complete clean boot on the PC. only thing to resolve it was enabling UAC.

    Found a workaround.

My UAC was not disabled. Never disable UAC!

My workaround, since I have an Nvidia card was to launch the game from GeForce Experience. Lo and behold it worked, the launcher launched the game and didnt crash with an error.

@Square Enix: The GEForce Experience is obviously setting some in memory that DirectX needs, that your launcher is not. Your launcher needs to be patched.

welp... 10days left on my sub. hopefully SE will fix this soon

for some reason re-enabling UAC no longer works to solve the issue. i have been able to get around it by creating a new user account on the PC. however, this only works one time. so every time i want to play the game it will be necessary to create a new user account in Windows.

all-in-all, this is pretty absurd. please fix! T_T
