"Giveaway" scam

Just a heads up, careful of the giveaway scam going around, pop up private messages and shouts that saying go to this link to win free gil. They're stealing accounts, the gil and items in them, and using then using the account to promote the links. Common sense, its too good to be true!

Yeah I've seen the reports on twitter and tumblr about it. Best way to stay safe in this game is to just assume anyone you don't personally know that is messaging you with a link it out to steal your account.

Authenticators aren't 100% protection. I had one on my WoW account and still got hacked once.

Gnomish engineering sometimes backfired and injured or killed the user. Goblin engineering sometimes backfired and injured or killed everyone else.

It won't save you because the scam involves you going to a fake website made to look like the official FFXIV login page where you can put your account name, password and OTP. Everything they need to get into your account and steal your gil.

Same things been happening on Jenvoa, i logged and instantly got a tell saying i could win "750 million gil", yeah right lmao, insta black list.

Have these people been reported, or is it all bot activity? At least it was just in the say chat before, now people are really out here scamming in our tells too...
