We as adventurers head over to Camp Emerald Moss, stare at the Aethryte until we're ready to kill some bees, find said bees, slay most of them, chase some down as they escape and are reinforced by seemingly related forest funguar, slay that group, experience a second long light show, and a crystal that confers our gil, item, and marks from the employer. But no one, but the reward crystal, confirms that the job is done or that our efforts have helped.

This is just me, but I feel like I started a quest and never finished.
You kind of got a point there, and yes if I apply that point of view of yours to my adventures so far, it would feel exactly like that :/ - So incomplete or "Empty"... maybe they should add some other sort of feature that changes the fact that we have to "Speak" to some floating crystal to start leves and stuff...

Yeah, the system itself isn't bad when you consider the concept. If you read the description of the system on www.finalfantasyxiv.com, then sure it sounds good. But the way its implemented (so clinically) and the nature of the quests (really boring) is hardly even a step up from just grinding on non-leve mobs.

Honestly? I think the guildleves are horrible. Its nice for people who have limited play schedules but ther then them its annoying, boring and tedious. I got to the point where I felt like I was going off to work everytime leves reset and I needed to get my 8 in.

I like the guildleves a lot. First time I did one in beta I was impressed by the graphical effects, music, and scripting. I think they're a great format for beating monsters to death. They need a lot more variety though. They just copy/pasted the first 8 guildleves across all 50 ranks, which is lame.

I haven't read the thread, so i'm just stopping by to say how much i loathe guildleves.

I thought it was only me, after spending a week playing FFXIV i couldn't get myself to do any guildleve anymore (way too pointless and repetitive) so i stopped playing all together, since the only other thing left for me to do was crafting.

If you get in a party and link, then they're doable because at least you get a good SP bribe to make up for the boredom. But because they are so good SP-wise, they kind of make grinding seem useless or obselete. So it's hard to get a grinding PT together due to this.

Before I found a consistent group to run leves with I was happy to solo them for decent rewards.

I think guildleves give the casual players focused on reaching end-game a decent (yet monotonous) boost in SP when they log in, while giving players like myself who have multiple classes the chance to improve our character by earning various guild marks.

    Do I like them? Yes.
    Room for improvement? Yes.

I don't think the blame lies on Guildleves. Finding an area with localized mob concentration on a decent respawn timer that will support a grinding party has been the challenge for me thus far. Not to mention, I would rather grind on mobs that drop worthwhile loot- further limiting my personal options. But I am thankful for guildleves in providing a structured option of gaining SP with some friends when our options would be otherwise limited.
