    Audio issues with multiple devices

Im not sure if this is a solo issue but so far what ive read online (reddit mostly), its a general problem with FF.

I just recently got headphones but i still use my speakers from time to time when my wife is playing FF with me. The issue is that my in game audio will not swap between the speakers and headphones even if I set them as my default audio device. Everything thing else will swap without a hitch but I'm forced to completely close down FF in order to get the audio back. sometimes it wont even recognize the default audio device and i have to go into the log in screen to check and then log back out and in the see if it works. its extremely frustrating and I cant really find a solution at this moment. Has anyone else dealt with this problem or maybe have a solution?

I read of using an audio swap software but i dont really see how that will help the game recognize the default audio device seeing as i can do that already but still lose my audio.

Edit/update: I have disabled every audio device on my PC but the headphones and have restarted FF14 8 times and still cannot get audio to worl. everything else is working fine ( youtube/music ect ) but FF will not play any audio.

    It's a known 'feature'
    >with multiple devices
which is also how you deal with it, by only using 1 device while xiv is open.
as long as the device itself doesn't change, you won't have to restart xiv. I can swap my speakers/headphones freely if I unplug/replug them into the same sound card jack as the device itself still maintains the same state. It being default has no bearing - it's the act of switching devices that xiv seems to hate. You could also use an external DAC or a similar hub so that you can switch audio without switching device. I've heard people to have success with Voicemeter as well, as a software solution, but haven't tried it myself.

Good morning and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

We would like to apologize for the delay in responding. Compulsion, could you please check the status of your tuner to if there are any corresponding auto settings for the device? Also, have you tried any other audio output and audio settings to see if that resolves the issue?

Thank you for visiting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.
