Awee I'll gladly draw something for you! ♥️♥️♥️ And ye I don't want us to get into trouble either ^-^

Back to the topic!: I still choose to take a neutral stance in regards to OP's suggested feature. I can see where both sides are coming from, since both have valid points I can empathize with.

If enough people got together and decided that some of glamours in the game were too inappropriate and they knew who's ear to whisper into, you can bet things would be changed.
But guess what? Video games are a part of life. Our lives at least. Quite a revelation, I know. If you are looking to control what everyone looks like then I would suggest picking up Skyrim or Fallout 4 and modding them to your liking. In an MMORPG there will be many things added for fun, or for eye candy, and people are going to use them. Just because someone doesn't like them doesn't mean that they should be hidden. I think it is selfish to want to control what other players want to wear like this, not to mention a little hypocritical. And no, my stance is not hypocritical. I'm not against people wanting to see certain things. But it is largely something that can be chosen by default. Don't like it? Don't have to focus on it, and if you do then that is 100% on you. Just worry about you. Problem solved.

    This though

What comes next? The option to hide all other players because your character is claustrophobic? The option to turn off Roes because they are too wide and get in my way? The option to turn off Miqote because furries offend me?

Get a grip. There are real problems that need to be addressed within this game and it's community. This is just a sad waste of people's time by comparison.

It really does feel like some people are starting to forget that this is an MMO.
Don't turn us Roes off! We are great for standing on our shoulders to see over crowds at concerts!

Joking aside, I agree entirely with the points made here.

You're missing the point entirely. The whole function of a video game is to experience something that you can't experience in real life. To have control of your surroundings and actions, whereas in life you rarely do. People play video games to escape from reality, not to be constantly reminded of it.

And yes your stance is entirely hypocritical. I should just accept whatever someone wants to wear and yet they don't have accept that I might not want to? Ridiculous.

We are going to just have to agree to disagree I think. I'm not budging, and neither will you I assume.

When you play an online multi player game with cosmetic choices, it's only reasonable to expect that you won't like everything you see. You know, just like real life.

Real people are behind every player avatar, and many people have made life-changing connections with those they have met in games. To say that "it's just a game" to support the need to remove the individuality of others from your view is very much minimising the impact this game has on some people. And for many that impact includes how they are able to choose to appear to other people. I know people who became friends, and more, partially because a glam caught their eye.

If a person so strongly dislikes the aesthetics that others choose, to the point they want them completely removed, then I say this person may need to play something else or somehow live with the horror that not everyone has the same taste as they do.

Not to mention the irony that OP wants to remove other player's glams while they themselves assist in leading a fc that focuses on glams. I suppose the next thing OP would want is a way to be able to see only the glams from their fellow fc members.

If anything, I now only want this implemented to see the absolute rage that would presumably follow, gauging from several reactions in this thread. :P

This means that I could take a picture you've posted of yourself and add captions to it, photoshop it, ETC. and repost it as much as I want. The only thing I can't do is claim the original image as my own.
Do you have a solid source for that claim? Not doubting you specifically, but I don't know where you've gotten this from and I'm not going to trust sourceless "legal information" that's been filtered through an unknown amount of People Making Stuff Up (or genuine misinterpretation of the actual laws) on the Internet.

Assuming the rule about images being public use is correct (and I'm not sure it would be), I find it hard to believe there wouldn't be some kind of counter-laws elsewhere about identity and copyright.

Also, sites like Facebook have clauses in their Terms of Use claiming a non-exclusive right to images you post. If those images simply become public use, there's nothing there for them to claim. They can just take it.

There's also the important question: whose law? The Internet is an international place.

More specifically for this game, usage of screenshots would come under the Materials Usage License, which specifies that all screenshots remain copyright of Square Enix and, if I'm reading it correctly, shouldn't be altered except possibly to combine it with other FFXIV screenshots.

Even if this apparent "public use" rule applies, Square Enix overrules it and retains the copyright and the right to tell you to take it down.
