Gamers don't die, we just go AFK

But you are left alone. That's why it's amazing how insane people are. This option will not affect your game or gameplay in any way. Unless you enjoy flaunting your appearance to others in which case you're not doing it because you enjoy it, but because you want attention.
Everyday we stray closer to the liberal utopia "Demolitonam Man". A satirical joke back in the 90's, but a apossibility nowadays as you can see from this thread. Careful with wrongthink and wrongspeak everyone!
A stray thought on the argument of whether FF characters follow "immersive" job gear or not...
Our party members for this expansion include:
- our primary tank in a leather coat and modern body armour
- our part-time backup tank in wizard robes and sandals
- a healer not wearing robes
- a rogue in a frilly white dress
- a dancer in chainmail and practical boots
It's character style over strict adherence to role-themed gear.
A character such as Thancred is designed in a way that is objectively far less jarring than a character clad in a frog or pig suit. The development team are even on record stating that content such as Hildibrand is locked away in its own little bubble because such things are not everybody's cup of tea. As such, the request to block out such things isn't really that unreasonable.
Let's not forget, World of Warcraft started to rapidly lose subscriptions and relevance right around the same time that it chose to take itself much less seriously than before and replaced subtle jokes and references with entire questing zones based around the plot of certain movies.
I won't speak for anybody else, but I enjoyed WoW right up until that happened in Cataclysm. I'd hate to see FFXIV take the same route - and so far it hasn't, though the ability to block out certain glamours would be an excellent compromise.
Yes, but then we have people in this very thread bringing up "healers wearing the sky pirate tank coat" as an example of immersion-breaking glamour. That coat would fit right in with the NPC character designs.
For the record, novelty animal outfits are on the long list of things I wouldn't want to be put into.
I fail to understand why there's an argument still going about a hypothetical feature that isn't even being considered by SE at this point.
To the people actually insulting others, really? That's mature.
It is the principle of the matter. I was fine staying out of the discussion until people started getting offended about advocates of the feature possibly having the benign option to have a toggle on the glamour. To me, it was a direct attack on choice which is something that does not sit well with me.
