Because you refuse to see player agency over their OWN CHARACTERS in an MMORPG as valid. But it's always been core to MMORPGs. You are simply in the wrong genre of games if you don't think that is valid. *shrug* Nothing anyone says will change your mind, because...I'll keep my thoughts to myself as to my further opinions of you and people like you. There are MMOs out there that allow this to happen anyway. And devs from various companies in various countries didn't go into a room together one day and decide that glamour means everyone has to view said glamour. This is some weird fantasy of yours. And even if they did, that does not mean a company could not change that policy.
Once again, a valid point is needed. You have no actual reason to want to restrict this feature.
Luckily it doesn't matter if you find it valid. MMO devs agree with me and always have and always will.
No one is taking away your agency as has been said many times.Because you refuse to see player agency over their OWN CHARACTERS in an MMORPG as valid. But it's always been core to MMORPGs. So you’re ok with people doing it client side so long as you don’t know.
But you’re against having the option to do it client side even if you don’t know.
Uh huh
People are asking for player agency. You are against it, unless it's an illegal mod. You've admitted it.Because you refuse to see player agency over their OWN CHARACTERS in an MMORPG as valid. Core of MMOs is your journey in a larger world filled with people, not the other guy's glam options.

Forcing characters into outfits they wouldn't wear is taking away agency. If people want to continue to bring up GW2, removing my characters race, face, and hair and turning it into a black void is taking away my expression and agency. How dense are you?
Yeah, you are completely right! My "valid criticism" is what MMO Devs agreed with for decades. Not only do they agree, they spend more and more time on fashion, cosmetics, and character customization. Clearly it's vital to the success of an MMO. You have no valid point. If you did, maybe a dev anywhere in the genre might take you up on this insipid idea.
What else is vital to the success of an MMO?
The chat! A tool for self expression. You can opt out of the chat in FFXIV.
You can blacklist other players FOR NO REASON OTHER THAN THAT YOU WANT TO to not have to interact with them.
Are you against these already implemented features as well? What makes their inclusion meaningfully different from the ability to deactivate others' glam?
I agree with you that the people who'd use such a feature are weirdos. Probably. This is precisely why I believe that glam will never die. It will only ever be an absolute minority of people who will use that feature.
Your agency doesn't exist on my computer. Simple as.

They're about your personal character creation, customization, fashion and expression; not someone else's. A player wanting the option to block another's glamour is them expressing their own opinion. It sounds like people don't like the idea of this option, because it will mean they can't force their own expression onto others. More power to someone who spends a year trying to get their perfect glamour, but most people will see it once, then forget it ever existed.
Difference here is chat is a source of potential harassment, racism, misogyny, homophobia, etc. and it's easier for the devs to give people tools to avoid this as much as possible. People always had a choice not to listen to people or speech they find offensive or irritating. It's why I block so many people I find annoying on these forums.Yeah, you are completely right!

People existing in the world wearing game-approved outfits isn't comparable.
So sad for you, it does! The devs will never implement your request and you'll continue to have to see my character as I choose, unless you mod. If you mod, you can't even mention this to me in game so whatever.
Anyway, as entertaining as this was to reply to nonsense, I really am out. Find some other source of entertainment I guess, or maybe circle-jerk in the 3 to 5 of you in agreement. lol
