Speaking strictly as someone who plays both roles, if the healer gets ahead of me - I fucked up in some capacity. This goes vice versa for the person I'm healing, so it doesn't much bother me.

Not even necessarily the case. I'm thinking of the healer in Amdapor Hard I had the other day who sprinted ahead of the pull to only get caught in the Bad Breath of a Morbol I had already pulled. I'd have pulled bigger, but the same healer wiped us 3 times on the first boss and twice on the second and seemed to struggle in places on the pulls.
I have NEVER pre-pulled as a healer and never will.
I let the tank set the pace as I'm not presumptuous enough to assume that my time is any more important than the player next to me.
Pull big or pull small, I got your back either way.

I run dungeons as all three roles. The fact of the matter is if you want to control the flow of the dungeon, you should've queued as a tank. Neither the DPS or the healer get to determine how big the pulls are. Put on your big boy/girl pants and queue as a tank if you want to be 100% sure you get wall to wall pulls.

Personally, I expect the tank to set the pace and I don't have an issue with the odd slow run in DF. Random groups are random. If you want a consistent experience you need to make friends and use PF or go with Trusts.
Stepping out of your role as healer and pulling is rude. I'm not surprised people don't respond well when you do it. I know it's common in other games (eg WoW) to treat the rest of your party like a bunch of npcs but that doesn't mean it's right.
The thing is, everything has a price. You say you appreciate that we have a nice community, you've noticed people are generally polite and treat others with consideration, but at the same time, you want to go around treating others with no consideration whatsoever. Of course you are getting push-back. If enough people behaved like you, our nice, friendly community would cease to exist.Being nice and careful about other player's feelings seems to be the standard, which is a good thing, until we get to the point where everybody gets too sensitive about negligible stuff and treats everybody like some kind of entitled snowflake.
... I obviously have efficiency on my side in given situation that most other gaming communities would take my side...
Ask yourself, is it really behaving like an 'entitled snowflake' to treat others with consideration while expecting a degree of politeness in return, or would that label be more appropriate for someone who goes against the generally accepted conventions and insists that everyone ought to adapt to them?
Very much this and eloquently put. It's not about being entitled snowflakes. "Entitled" and "snowflakes" are two buzz words that get thrown around a lot outside of their actual intended meaning. The thing is, everything has a price. My reasoning was that the tank shouldn't feel entitled to be the one deciding the pace in the case when efficiency isn't at their side (in obvious cases), just like I wouldn't feel entitled and get upset when healer pulls ahead of me when I am playing as tank. I wouldn't care at all if I see that nothing bad comes out of it and even healer can tank those mobs. I'd perhaps even feel bad for not pulling more and would have apologetic attitude, getting mad in chat would be last thing I'd consider doing. The tank who gets upset seems to me much more arrogant and entitled than the healer who prepulls in this beyond overgeared instance. This probably has to do with my underlying philosophy.
Everyone is different though, communities can differ and I should be considerate of that. I've already admitted that I'm the one at fault here.

I main tank, but like to play as healer sometimes. Also tend to get much shorter queues as healer lately, tank tends to get near dps like queues for some duties while healer gets instant for same ones.....Or you can just tank.
Stop being such a defeatist. Your intentions are good, but the effort is unnecessary and unorthodox. You said it yourself in your OP, that you don't mind if the tank does small pulls. If that's the case, then why are you pulling more mobs?
Because the AiN is typically Tank for most duties, and during most times of the day, I encourage those who want to tank to actually queue up as one. If your intentions are about what's best for the community, then you need to look at the bigger picture and not just the instance you're in. If you're adamant against playing tank, or don't have one leveled, then just ride their heels. You'll get less gripes in the long run that way.
I'll be playing less healer now or maybe stop doing (overgeared) dungeons with them.
Literally nearly every response here, times infinity. You are not the tank; you don't know their mindset, their level of tanking experience, or their comfort zone in being a tank. You are a HEALER. Pre-pulling those mobs as a healer (despite any and all good intentions) is only going to net you the ire of not only the tank, but two DPS's, as well, 99% of the time you engage in this action.
This is a rock solid and unarguable fact.
the saddest thing about this whole post is that its up to 110 replies (at the time of this post). In most other MMOs this is simply a no-no and the healer (or whoever pulls besides the tank) would be considered an asshole. the post would be flamed and the person posting it would be called all sorts of names until the post is locked by moderators.
but here for whatever reason there is an actual debate about it, with people ACTUALLY agreeing with the original poster.
rethink your point of view ... because you're wrong.
