If you're pulling as a healer, you are indeed being a prick to your team. (If intentionally, at least. There are accidental pulls from bad positioning)

It's the tanks job to grab the enemies and keep them on him / her. If they aren't comfortable with big pulls (for whatever reason) then they shouldn't be forced to pull more than they are comfortable with. That only causes issues that people will certainly make vocal. But on the other side of the proverbial coin, a tank should never pull more than the healer can deal with, as a stressed out healer is a very dangerous thing to deal with. You can't "solo" a dungeon. You need to work together and pissing each other off is not going to make it go any faster.

This can all be avoided by simply asking at the start of ANY Dungeon, how comfortable the tank / healer is with big or small pulls. Or rather, if they're willing to give it a shot. Be considerate. It's another person on the other side of the screen, not an AI. Treat them how you wish to be treated.

If you are bored playing a healer, don't take it out on your team. It's not their fault you aren't as engaged as you may like.

I’d also like to add that I generally have a rule when I’m tanking; if someone in the party keeps purposely pulling enemies I let them tank them.

It's the principle. If they want to elect themselves to do the tank's job, they can do it all the way. No halfassing. If they want to run ahead and pull mobs like a tank, they can handle them like a tank. Don't start it if you aren't going to follow through.

And with how much of a joke both aggro and trash mob damage has now become. It's a silly principle. You effectively make the run take longer and potentially cause more issues than had you simply taken the mobs yourself and asked them to not pull again. If they continue to do so, kicking said person is a far better solution.

Say I'm your healer and the Monk pulls for you, prompting you to ignore those mobs. The Black Mage has already begun AoEing and now also has aggro. I now have to heal three people, possibly letting one or all of you die. The end result is me getting annoyed with you not the Monk because you caused me far more problems than they did. Conversely, if you asked them not to do it and put up a vote kick when they did again. I'd likely accept it.

Put another way, I'll use the same argument people have in this thread. Don't make things difficult for the team because you're more concerned about a silly principle.

I don't think so considering how tank anxiety is very common. With a pug you can't really say for sure if someone is a very experienced or confident tank, even if they're playing as best as anyone possibly could on a single pack.

Not even checking gear is a sure way to see if someone is experienced or not. I remember a time when my buddies and I ended up with a pug tank who had the absolute best gear you could possibly get in the tier and most of it was from savage, but their tanking...was okay at best. This was surprising considering their gear. Afterwards one of my buddies looked them up in fflogs and it turned out they only had logs as a caster and ranged phys dps.

And no, no one gave them hassle or said anything. We just did the dungeon at the pace the tank pulled. They weren't a bad tank by any means, but they didn't have the skill you would expect from someone with that gear. We felt the logs adequately explained the situation.

I do not prefer to one mob pull. But if tanks do that, I'll just sigh and moved on.

If DPS pre-pull, and tank has the heart to save him, all is well. But if party wiped, the spilled blood will attract the gaze of the Blood Kupo Nutsy. Further repeating the same action will make said DPS bleed lying down, while I keep nourished the tank for the Blood lily.

Shall the dps miraculously sass me for it, I shall ceased holy for the sparkly throne and mogdance towards that fool every time tank doesn't need heal.

"Most" tanks I've seen will pull entire mobs to boss usually. Though I will get the occasional tank who wants to only pull 1 group of mobs which is fine, I can respect it. Though what I won't tolerate is someone harassing the tank for how they're playing. Even though you can literally spam your aoe ability, some people are still getting the hang of the class or anything.

Try communicating with your tank before doing their job for them.

As a healer who DPS's and pushes hard in dungeons, I still think that running ahead and actually pulling a trash pack is pretty idiotic. It's risking tension and drama within the group, you're likely going to get a cast or two interrupted if the tank is napping and as such, it's a net loss for everyone.

I usually get the best results being nice and civil about things if the tank is single pulling. 'Hey, I'm good for bigger pulls if you're up for it? The damage seems pretty decent'.

Where I push the line is doing things such as dotting mid pull and trying to pre cast on bosses. With most tanks it's no problem and I can time the cast reliably as long as they move with some degree of consistency.
