    PVP Customisation - Bring back upgrade-able additionals

    There was a time where we could add a select amount of points into certain additionals / abilities (for example retaliate could have 3 points put in to upgrade the potency of counters) where it allowed for different and optimised playstyles - with how streamlined most of the jobs are right now there's a lack of identity I think this would be a good change to make the gameplay more interesting.

    This allows for aggressive and defensive players some customisation and control over what they want to do, also having the option to change in-match to suit the needs of different team comps like before. Cool down time, Potency increase, CC increase etc; there's many options you could explore with this.

    Upvoted because I miss this too! At least it gave us some semblance of customization in how we wanted our character to participate in PVP.

    we already have pretty similar system right now with additionals and there is exist only one right skill choice

    The system we got isn't similar at all there's no customisation other than pick 2 and play, Let me explain to you what it was like... back in heavensward you could put points into certain actions to upgrade them, Look at this image here:



    For each point you had you could put it into one of your additionals to upgrade it: Axe Kick +1 = Shortened Recast etc. This allowed for different play styles to be more effective since you can get more out of the additional you liked. It also was helpful when you had to go vs team comps that were tricky to fight against because you could be adaptive to that situation by changing your points around.

    I thought the reason they removed it is because everyone will lend up go for same cookie cutter build. Customization becomes pointless because everyone uses the same thing

    Which is why you balance it, not to 'make everything good' but to make it so 'this change gives you a different opportunity to make a decision'

    For instance; Making it so that you could upgrade tbn to last longer, now opens you up to using it earlier and as a deterrent rather than as a snap-judgement tool. This would probably be more optimal against say, a samurai, a tank without a gap closer and casters.

    Or making it so that gunbreakers aoe slow, also lowers weaponskill by 10% means you can use it more reliably as a peel tool without having to rely on your team's mobility, which would be something youd want to take if you had a caster or a melee on your team without a dash. If your team had mobility, or if the enemy team had phys range and ninja/monk this would be less effective.

    There's lots of small, none overpowered tweaks you can do to an ability to give it a slight edge against certain compositions.

    The problem would arise when you just give damage and cooldowns to already strong abilities instead of modifying weaker ones to have more of a use.
