If only Savage would have a week or so delay in subsequent even patches like there are on the .0 patches so players could, oh i don't know, follow along with the story and have time to do things other than rush into savage, that'd be great. There is zero chance they do this for the exact reason you've stated. Considering Yoshida even made a point to set some time aside because there will be more cut scenes. This would only encourage raiders to skip every single one of them. And as someone who enjoys both the story and raiding, I would quite pissed off.
But you don't? To unlock Eden Savage, you just need to Eden Normal, which is unlocked by doing the quest "Away with the Faerie", which only needs you do to the quests for the first set of Eden floors.
Only Ruby weapon needs the first quest of the MSQ done, presumably to explain why Gaius is talking to the Alliance.

The final quest for the next leg of Eden's story requires certain 5.2 MSQ progression as indicated by the "???". Usually, for 8-man raids, it is the last quest in the tier that needs to be completed to unlock savage. Keeping that in mind, RicaRuin came to the conclusion that completing the new MSQ would be required to get to Eden's Verse Savage.

Ok, is it yes or no then? All this talking about me got me confused. The final quest for the next leg of Eden's story requires certain 5.2 MSQ progression as indicated by the "???". Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

My thoughts exactly. Raids are in their own bubble, the only thing you need to do to progress is doing the raid and finishing the end quest of an expansion.
For Alexander you had to complete the Heavensward Quest (3.0 finale) and maybe a sidequest or two, but for the other tiers you just had to have done the previous tier and their quests. Savage could be unlocked the moment you finished the normal tier's quests.
Same for Omega, you had to complete the Stormblood Quest (4.0 finale) and then you could pick up the start of Omega, with the next tier being unlocked after you completed the previous normal tier and Savage, again, after you completed the current normal tier quests.
I think this might even hold true for Bahamut, but I didn't do it when it was current so I can't say for sure.
I really don't see them changing this any time soon. Heck, even the Alliance raids use the same set-up. They're all in their own bubble and just come after another, the only MSQ you have to finish is their relative x.0 MSQ.
Hold up, Qitari beast tribes is for Disciple of Land only? Oft, guess I gotta start leveling some crafters then.
It's hard to say since all the quests are listed as "???" but it's entirely possible that the one needed for savage is the second to last in the Eden's Verse quests and the last one that requires MSQ is solely a story quest that ties the two together.
"Solo players may now advance production phases in company crafting."
Finally.
